Can someone clarify please? Did the father die for the girl?

I watched it a few times, and I'm under the impression that the dad dies giving blood. There's a shot of the EKG flatlining, but the daughter wakes up so I assumed the dad died.

I swear teenagers are ****** up all over the world. How selfish can you be to be suicidal cuz your dad is a deaf mute? Yes the teasing and bullying at school can be unbearable but suicidal on YOUR BIRTHDAY?

i guess people's sensibilities vary from culture to culture. We may value some things while others on the other side of the world don't. Some cultures find "honor killing" justified. Some culture think interracial dating / marriage to be taboo. Homosexuality is frowned up outside the US, etc.

in some parts of the world, disabilities are looked down upon and some cultures believe disabilities are punishment for something you've done wrong (not following religion, etc). There's also the stigma associated with them. The father was deaf and mute, but he was in not mentally impaired, but people called him "dumb". And that might reflect bad on the daughter because people think she may also be "dumb"

In certain countries (like poorer countries), being shunned by your community is a big thing. Like not only are you poor in a rural area and isolated from world, but now you're poor and isolated from the world and totally alone from your community with no support system. I don't justify suicide, but I can understand how the daughter may have felt alone.
