I've been doing some research, but i want NT to help me narrow down my searches

the camera isn't for me, its for the girlfriend, and she too has to no experience with "higher end" cameras like SLR's and such

since its her first camera, i want to start off with something for a beginner, so she can learn from it and so she can play around with the setting and such.

possible around the 200-350 dollar range.

As of now, im looking into the nikon coolpix L120 and the Nikon coolpix L810

what do you guys think? im all ears for new suggestions!

Give the Canon S95 a try.
But if your gf wants to get into photography, give the Panasonic Lumix LX5 a try. It's one of the best point & shoot cams for the price out there. The settings are a little complicated for a beginner, but if she plays around with it for a little bit, then the basics should be easy to grasp.

I was in the same boat before I bought my camera now. I kinda want to get into it, but not spend too much money. I ended up going with the fujifilm hs20. I'm really liking it so far.
Here's the video that sold me. lol
