I honestly feel we don't appreciate The Love Below as much as we should

Very few times in music history does an album have an immediate effect on the genre especially in the short time frame Hip Hop has been alive.
Only times I can think about that happen:

Rakim

DMX

50 Cent

Run DMC (Raisin' Hell)

I'm sure there is more but those 4 came in and after their respective album rap kinda got a new life and a new energy in them.

I think The Love Below did that too and opened a brand new door in Hip Hop. In a year where the top singles were "In Da Club" "Right Thurr" "Get Low" "21 Questions" "Can't Let You Go" "P.I.M.P" Andre went all the way left and set standards for not just Hip Hop music but pop music in general. Let's appreciate................The Love Below

Let's not forget he produced every track except Roses which he still co-produced.

Duuuuuuuuuuuude! I swear to God I was gonna make this exact same thread. Like as soon as I got home and I get here and damn you beat me to it.

Everybody I knew at the time hated my man's 3000 side including myself. I was actually kinda pissed off. I didn't listen to it for a good month after purchase date. Then I decided to give it a good spin and was amazed. Dude went in on this album and changed up how I listened to music and got me into listening to other genre's just a complete overhaul of my music taste.

Favorite track has to be She Lives in My Lap.

Quick question though. Is Vibrate supposed to be about masturbation?

Always wondered that.

I think at the very basic level it is about masturbation but more so about learning and getting in tune with yourself

TLB still gets spins. @#%@, i dont even listen to speakerboxx

Still don't feel like TLB was even that good. Aside from the HUGE singles, prototype, the life of andre benjamin, and she lives in my lap what is there? I think this album is what started the 3k slurpage... just because it was different not necessarily good. Speakerboxxx > TLB.

And Cudi's version of pink & blue was better anyway.

I remember buying this the day of release and I was completely thrown off when I listened to it. Needless to say that it ended up being one of my favorite albums that year

What trapmuzik said. This album is slurped more than anything beyond belief. Speakerboxx >>> Love Below. I still
throw on Speakerboxxx from time to time. Haven't listened to TLB since 2003.

After I got the album I thought it was great. Still love it today. F what anybody else say.We still need a hip hop album from him though.

Nah man it's too weird for me. A couple songs are super fly but I just can't put this on and ride all the way through.

Only song i  used to listen to, I havent played that album since 04

I LOVE this album, To me f Andre's rapping, I much rather his introspective joints where he sings.

Love the album, there's so many ppl I know that don't consider it hip hop, so they wouldn't even agree with how you framed the argument for it's impact in hip hop. Same way with Cee-Lo when he does it.

I still remember when The Whole World dropped and ppl fronting on it, I'm thinking damn these !$@$+! crazy.

Of course everything I just said has to do with real life and not how !$@$+! on NT react.
