I never understood this...Why does the TV seem to sound louder at night than during the day?

Serious question.

I always wondered but never thought to ask or search about it

Like Nip said, everything is pretty much amplified at night with the absence of noise that happens during the day.

Or at times the sound level in the car sounds different at different times. Sometimes the level is 15 and its not loud enough so you blast it at 30. When mom gets in the car though 10 is too loud and you lower it to 5.

(Warning: I might be wrong) I think it has something to do with how alert or fatigued you are. I don't know about anyone else but the later it gets the less i have be alert about so i start to relax and focus more on certain things like what's being said on tv for instance.
