If you want to live in safe, clean, and rich neighborhood come to Irvine.
I used to live in Sac, Fresno, and Stockton, it was horrible. Asian gangs everywhere plus the wangsters.
Irvine is ranked #2 in the nation of being the safest city.
But its very costly, the apartment in Irvine costs about $1900~2000 for 2 bedroom apartment. But its definitely worth it.
this is true. like half of my extended family has migrated from LA to Phoenix in the past 5 years, and they're living way betterfinancial-wise.Originally Posted by wj4
I don't think I can ever leave SoCal...too spoiled here. I've got a job offer to go out to Phoenix, and it was an attractive offer, but I turned it down. Cost of living is great out there though. A couple of friends from HS moved out there and bought a condo for about 1/5th the price that it would cost here in SoCal.

i say east/south bay is the place for you. it has walmart/costco so you're set on groceries. and if you ever do find a job as an IT, a lot of companies are around the area as well and silicon valley not being that far.

How's Lake Elsinore? I like how their houses look.
Too far and too hot. Even the Nike Outlet sucks out there,.![]()
What is your budget? What are you willing to pay in rent? That will determine where you can/will live.
@ the dude that said Rancho Cucamonga is 40 minutes away, c'mon bro, spewing the speech the real estate broker told to get a ton of people to move out there. Technically, it is a 40-50 minute drive, but a lot of variables gointo that. There is always traffic on the 10 and 210,

you might as well just stay in your hometown.Originally Posted by DatZNasty

i live in rancho cucamonga. CA. Its pretty much close to everything (the mountains. 40 minutes from LA, 40 minutes from OC, 1.5 hours from SD, good neighborhood)
if you want to stay out of the city, inland empire is the way to go. North Fontana, Rancho, Upland, Chino Hills, etc

What is your "career" bro? Because like others have stated, the job situation out here is funky...if you're just coming out herewith no skills and trying to get a regular 9-5 then you might as well stay where you're at.Originally Posted by DatZNasty

What's some things to consider as far as jobs, neighborhoods, whatever else?
Anyone else done the same thing and been successful?
Maybe in Pacoima or San Fernando.Originally Posted by OGMIKEY

I've been in IT for about 2 yrs, but was actually a Kinesiology major. My official title is Information Assurance Security Officer for FortSill Army base. My buddy is a Network Systems Admin, and that was his major. I was looking on USAJobs and there's some jobs at LA Air Force Baase I'mgoing to put in for and see if I get any hits.Originally Posted by grittyman20

As far as locations are concerned, it really depends. What is your monthly budget going to be like? How far are you willing to commute to work? There are plenty of factors I think you should consider.
I moved out to Socal about 5 years ago. I found a job before I moved, and then found a place in the Rancho Cucamonga/Ontario area...which was pretty close to where I work. I've lived in a big city for some years so I was like you where I didn't have to live in LA. I don't mind driving, and usually I can get to whereever I need to get in around an hour (of course not I'm not referring to traveling during rush hour). I like it here because it's quiet but just busy enough where I don't feel like I'm in the country....to each his own though, but I wouldn't suggest Lake Elsinore AT ALL![]()
