If you watch ESPN and hate soccer..World Cup Schedule

Betting on soccer is

, almost as good as betting on football. Man, I love the feeling, how your team is defending that goal, when money is on the line. Adrenaline galore.

I hate ESPN and dislike that they'll be putting a spin on everything to the point that it could potentially turn a lot of people off to the sport itself much like they've had a hand in corrupting and over-commercializing a lot of American sports. It's not like they're interested in the sport, but moreso the ad revenues that will result from being the sole English-language transmitters of this event.

I'l be watching Univision and satellite dish broadcasts.

I agree that ESPN will probably put a spin on everything but I disagree that it'll turn people off.

ESPN will likely focus on the US NT to the point where casual fans will probably be drawn in to see how well the team does.

If ESPN can attract new casual fans then they will have done their jobs and I think hardcore fans will benefit.

Soccer coverage in North America sucks right now because there isn't that much demand. Once American soccer viewership increases, networks may feel inclined to provide more coverage of the sport.

I still have hope that soccer will become in North America one day. It's the most popular sport in every single continent but North America.

I'm not sure but I think I read this will be the first time in U.S. history that all 64 WC matches will be aired live...or maybe it's the first time that a U.S. broadcaster will air live from the site of the WC...something like that. It's an indication that demand is growing in the continent.

For some reason I'm not that excited about this WC. I think my pessimistic nature has me thinking that this WC will be a repeat of the 06 WC where top players will be too exhausted to perform at their best. However, I usually get that 'feeling' around May of every WC year where my whole life revolves around the event (scheduling work, exercise, social activities around the 1-4 matches per day)

I hope England wins, but I don't think they will. Between England and Spain, they always find a way to choke in the big games.

Wc06 is what made me get into soccer, so this will b my first time watching the sport with knowledge of how the game is played and know the players in it well. I feel like this will be one of the weaker wcs overall now many of the extremely popular players that were spread out through many countries have retired or fell off and there isn't going to be as much star power. There's no team to REALLY look forward to either like how that lineup brazil had in 06. It's still the greatest sporting event and im going go be pulling for the African nations to do well .

Greatest sports event. Ever.

I cannot %@$!&*( wait for the WC.

Any of you guys have gambling backgrounds in soccer? Im not a soccer fan, but maybe some wagers might make it interesting.

Can't wait. Great to see soccer is getting more attention here in the U.S..

Looking forward to U.S., Mexico, Argentina and Spain matches. Although I'd say Argentina are the weakest squad because they have no chemistry with Maradona at the helm.

CANT WAIT!

Will probably just suck it up and watch it on Univision...dont know what will be worse though....the mex dickriding on Univision or the US on ESPN...either way, I dont see either one getting out of the 1st round

And goltv needs to get hudson to do some games...I dont care if he has to broadcast from his house via skype, aint no one got more quotables than this man

I'm guessing Wynalda won't be called to provide commentary in studio?

--Meh. I dont hate soccer. I just dont prefer it.
--One of my dudes was playing FIFA on X-Box when I strolled to his crib the other day. For about 15-20 mins it was just him against the comp running back and forth. Kicking the ball. Nothing happening.
--I was like...are you seriously playing this garbage right now?
--Where's the Madden and NBA 2K at homes?!

Doesn't matter, I don't watch either.

Soccer has too many pansies. They fall down and act hurt to slow the game down. Worse than WWE.

-Don't be so hard on yourself. You're doing a much better at being a soccer hater than you think you are.
-Yeah, like every sport can't be simplified like that if you hate it: Basketball is just a bunch of guys running back and forth throwing balls into horizontal circles. Football is just a bunch of guys running around trying to run into the painted area of the field.
-The absence of time-outs and game stops must've really freaked you out. It must've been surreal for you to witness a sporting event that didn't have a time-out or a stop between plays/pitches for 2 minutes.

I know ESPN screws with the coverage, but for the World Cup I don't even care - I want the USA vs. the World feeling, I like the homerism when it involves my country.

USA!!!

--I get your view on football and basketball, but in football at least something happens evry down. a tackle. a run. a pass. something. In basketball something is bound to happen in 24 segment seconds.Keeps the game interesting. Watching dudes kick a bal in socerl back and forth with no kind of action/reaction especially when playing a $60 video game is like watching paint dry.

Funny how only in soccer threads do people come in to brag about how much they hate the sport like it's the cool thing to do.
