Why aren't any defensive players being seriously considered for the Heisman?

Namely.....

Eric Berry

But also, Terrance Cody at Bama, that Suh guy (not even gonna try to spell his name

),etc.

It's supposed to be awarded to "The Most Outstanding Player In College Football" by definition. What offensive player can you make a serious casefor? Besides a Case Keenum or some other random QB putting up ****** numbers against nobodies.

If u woulda told me at the beginning of the yr all the top QBs would be struggling I woulda told u This was Eric's trophy to lose. but he has been asked todo more tackling and run support to help the team.

Noel Devine
CJ Spiller are having pretty dominant seasons.

he keeps on his pace and wins out..Jimmy.

but I think tebow takes it as a lifetime achievement award.

Jake Locker alone makes you a powerhouse.

Jake Locker is supremely talented.

Jake Locker wills his team to victory.

Jake Locker is probably the best prospect in the nation.

Jake Locker eats glass and craps out Heismans.

Jake Locker.

Haha I know I'm just being biased, let me be happy man we did lose all of our games last year, and Jake Locker is dope thoughh

These ******ed @!@ writers will give it to Tebow...it should be Clausen IMO

Naw, let my boy be the only one blessed with that honor:

Im not a Peyton Manning fan.

he was a choker in college.

Tee Martin is my favorite Vol QB

Never beat Florida

C. Wood deserved it that year.

Wood had a defining game/play that year.

and got Smashed by Nebraska in Orange bowl game that coulda been for a share of the national title

and never beat UF is an understatement. He gave away a cple games

It's going to be Jimmy Clausen if he keeps up this pace and they win out which is very likely.

And Floyd is coming back this week too

Jimmy Clausen's team is such garbage. That's the only reason I don't think he should win, but I do think he's the most deserving offensiveplayer.

!!!Homer Alert!!!

Spiller has returned 17 kicks this season and has taken four of them (three kickoffs, one punt) to the house.
He saw virtually no action last Saturday against Coastal Carolina. That was by design because he needed togive his turf toe a rest. Before that, he led the nation in all-purpose yards at 208 per game. That was against a schedule that included three top 15teams.
This season, he has eight plays of over 60 yards, seven of which have gone for touchdowns. Until last week's rest,Spiller had posted a 60-yard plus play in every game.
Those 60-yard plus scoring plays have come in four different ways: Kickoff return, punt return, pass reception, and run from the line of scrimmage.
And here's the big one: Over the course of his four-year career at Clemson, Spiller has 19 -- that'sright, 19 -- touchdown plays of 50 yards or more. Nobody else has ever done that. Not Tim Brown. Not Reggie Bush. Not Rocket Ismail. Nobody.

Dude should be a legit candidate, at least. If he was on a team worth a damn that had more than 1 nationally televised game this year, he'd be"standing out" based on what he's done alone. He's also playing behind a crap OL for the 3rd year out of his 4 college seasons.

He's Reggie Bush without the supporting cast or coaching staff. *Ducks and covers*

+$$* Tee Martin, that %@$*%#*!%%@## bastard *!%+@ %@* mofo

Check all the so called experts and their Heisman list, a lot of them have guys like EB and Suh up there cause of the lack of dominant offensive players.

CJ needs one game like Reggie V. Fresno and he is taking it. that game will be this weekend

Good thread but if it was seriously to CFB best player this year it should be Ndamukong Suh. By far the best player I've seen this season, dominant for themost part. It sucks that EB's numbers are down this season though...I remember some preseason chatter about him being an early candidate but I guess UT,even lining him up at LB? :smh

Mark Ingram
Clausen
Suh
CJ Spiller

Those 4 would probably be my finalist if I were to choose. Had Dez stayed eligible he mighta been a front runner though the start he got off to was FAST,imagine a whole yr of that.

This really could've been Jahvid Best's Heisman if it wasn't for those 2 L's to Oregon and USC. Dude had 5 td's against Minnesota and wasthe #1 Heisman prospect according to Tod McShay at that point in time. Everything was all set up for the Heisman Campaign but Oregon finally woke up againstCAL and killed their season and Best's Heisman hopes. Another blowout loss to USC and it was a wrap for the Pac-10 champion. Hopefully Oregon makes it tothe National Title game, USC loses 1 more game, and CAL wins out to go to the Rose Bowl

Suh is the best player I've seen this year.

I don't think Tebow deserves it this year but if they go undefeated I think he will win it.

My vote would be Keenum from Houston or Jimmy Clausen *if ND wins 10 games

Javhid Best isn't/wasn't even the best running back in the Pac 10.

In a season where no one stands out I think voters rely more on team success and player reputation. Jimmy might end up with the best stats but since the teamwon't be in the top five I don't think it's going to matter.

If Jimmy wins the Heisman....

The fact that he is still being considered:

Mark Ingram is a solid choice
Ndamukong Suh
CJ Spiller is having a solid year too, all around
Golden Tate if you are giving Clausen pub, give some to the guy hauling in all those bombs.

The thing is, except for Ingram, all the other guys play on mediocre teams and only Spiller's team has a win over a quality opponent (Miami).
