Information Technology (IT)

Anybody have any experience as a Noc Tec? Thinking about going that route in about a year.

yep, but the game plan is the buliding apartments or hotels if people can't afford a house.
They keep building more and more condos and townhomes around here so they’ll definitely get their money if doing relocation moves. That cost of living increase for some might be worth it

So with what happened last night, should we expect a surplus of IT jobs in the upcoming months?

Process for one company that I was interviewing for ended up taking 1 month and two weeks. Process was video chat with recruiter followed by 3 rounds of interviews with the company. Didn't get it. Company isn't that big. No reason to take so damn long

Recruiter hits me on LinkedIn a week ago. Ignore it. Once the job above falls through, I hit her up last Thursday. Interviewed with company on Friday and Monday. Got the job offer today. Crazy how efficient some can be and time wasting others are.
man tell me about it
i was interviewing for a promotion at my current company, one month in, im supposed to speak with the director, he didn't schedule anything with me for like 2-3 weeks then gets back to me that they are going with another internal candidate, didnt even give me a shot man was i pissed

I’m about to go to school in the fall for my master's degree in information technology, and I was wondering if it is necessary for a career path or if I should just study for Security+ and get my certification instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apples and oranges. Wouldn’t compare a Masters to a cert like Security+ whereas anyone even without any prior knowledge can obtain in like 3 weeks. If you have the time and funds I’d say Masters. But some say that can be a “waste of time” too in IT unless you’re aiming for management ultimately.

I have the funds for school and I’m still currently active duty Air Force and I have 3 1/2 years left on my contract so I’ll take the masters degree and if I get a deployment or something, I’ll try to take care of the security plus certification

man why dont you cross train into cyber? have the military pay for all the certs... and you'll be lined up nicely by the time you get out

Oh ok, didn’t know you had that background. Idk much about the Air Force but yea definitely if you’re able to transition in cyber some kinda way do that. And you probably already have at least a Secret clearance I assume.

Prestigious or non prestigious?

I’m going through the Cybersecurity Master’s program at WGU. They are some certifications into the curriculum including CySA+, Pentest+, ISC2 CC, CISM. It’s a competency based school so it’s not like typical online school with weekly posts, a paper or two and exams.

Yeah. Those cyber MOS have access to extensive training budgets. I seen this one Army E8 get a masters degree from SANs lol.

University of Arizona Global Campus that's where I have my degree from. I just have a normal Secret clearance I wanted to retrain into Cyber but my career field wouldn't release me. I'm not 100% sure where I'll get my Master's from either it'll be online since I'm busy with the wife and kids for the most part

Heads up, it looks like Fidelity needs a new IT team, web, designer and app builder.

Go secure your Fidelity accounts gentlemen, there’s a potential Security breach going down.

Called Fidelity seeing information on my account that they can’t see on their end!! 🤯

My account shows my primary email but it sent it to another email that I have. I called them that I can see the primary email & another email on my account and he can’t see the other email it sent to on his end. That’s not good when Fidelity is in control of/worth $17 billion.

They’re supposed to see everything on the account. Why can’t they see what I am seeing?

So yeah, go secure your **** guys cause this **** might be a can of worms.

If I have an email set as the primary one, it SHOULD NOT bypass that at all and send it anywhere else.
