So I just tore my ACL and meniscus playing ball. Never been hurt in my life seriously.
Pretty bummed about it, at any rate I'm trying to stay positive. For people that have had long term injuries, what was some of the stuff you did to stay optimistic pass time etc.

How did you do it if yoy dont mind me asking? Like driving to the basket? Rebounding?

Appreciate the well wishes.

I was driving base line and pushed off my right leg to try and cross over and get to the middle for a floater. Soon as I planted I heard a loud pop excruciating pain and all that.

How long of a recovery were you looking at?

six months if you wanna get hurt, your best bet is 10 months pt, 2 months post pt workouts, than falling back into routine training. i took the six month route, trucked someone playing football but planted my leg wrong stress fracture and a strain. finish pt and water jog and you will be back my brotha

Damn. Ill def heed your advice. I'm not trying to go pro or anything, just like staying in shape. Glad you're okay.

And the frustration is setting in already. Crutches suck. I feel guilty for people constantly offering to help already.

The silver lining though, I have a new profound respect for people with permanent disabilities etc. Truly makes you appreciate your health.

also avoid the calf graft procedure if you wanna be in pt longer, i got the cadaver

I too tore my ACL brahs.

It was April 2012.

I was ballin' that game too, damn near had a trip dub.

Team in the playoffs.

My squad was up too, game only had a little under a minute 30 left.

I was devastated when I got the MRI result brahs, tore my ACL.

Recovery was difficult man, didn't know if I was ever going to be the same player.

But I rose again, started playing ball again this past year. But this last November I tore my meniscus.

Everyone keeps tellin' me I'll never be the same player, that I might as well walk away from the game I love, that I got no heart, that I'm soft, but my story isn't finished being written. I know I'll be back, and I'll be better, stronger.......

and so will you OP, so will you.

Yes I am Derrick Rose

No I'm not.

Or am I?

nope.... |I

Hope all goes well with your recover man.
I've partially torn my meniscus, hamstring and broken a few toes.

The docs are going to tell you to rest, it's gonna be hard to resist the urge to go back out there once you start feeling like its good enough. Don't do what I did :lol

Guessing the plan is rehab after survey?

Hope for a safe recovery

Never broke injured anything before

Hopefully I dont jinx myself

Speedy recovery!

Which leg is it?
I broke my right foot many years ago. 3 metatarsals. Brake wasn't too bad, minor pain, but because it was my right foot it meant I couldn't drive >:

DOnt feel bad for even a second about having people help you. Some people assume because you have a lower body injury that you've still got use of your hands/upper body. But If you got you Effin crutches you don't have free hands either. Get a good backpack with at least to side-pockets for bottles etc.

Also, make sure you get some real good crutches with nice grips and proper sizing. And maybe one of those knee scooters, although Im not sure if that would work with a one injury

Be careful with crutches on the stairs, mad dangerous

Good luck, and good health to you

ps. When you get prescribed pain meds don't hesitate to take them even if the pain is low. Those aren't just for numbing the pain, they help you heal as well

Keep your head up, dude. Buddy of mine tore his playing flag football. Just gotta stay positive and be patient.

BTW, I still need to watch that video so I got you when I do.

Appreciate it man. Probably gonna have a lot more free time on my hands now. I'll send you some more if I find any other appealing ones.

Again thanks everyone for the well wishes
