International shipping help?

Hey, grabbed a pair of shoes from the UK and my friend is going to ship them out to me.

Does anyone live in the UK and have experience shipping to the US?

What's the cheapest way to get them to me/what are the chances I get hit with customs fees?

My biggest question is insurance/declaring the value.

Fed-EX or DHL.  Or the British equivalent of USPS.

Follow their instructions.

I heard that FedEx and DHL charge duties/customs fees but the parcel post which I believe is the equivalent of our USPS does not. Just trying to hammer out the details so I dont end up spending 70 bucks on shipping lol
