How much do you guys declare on the Customs form? Do you put down the amount the person paid or do you lower the amount? I have had people complain that they get taxed and they expect me to put half.. and if I lie and mark "Gift" and declare $45 the possible fines are from $500min to $5,000max.

What do you guys do?

Are you 100% positive about the fine?  That one I never heard of.  I use to mark as gift and do $40 back when I sold.  Most of the buyers asked me to mark as a gift as well.  Only downside to this is there is no insurance for them.  I would confirm with the buyer first, either way they're paying for the fees or risking no insurance.

Put gift and declare the value at $5.

They do get taxed heavily if your honest.

Well i do this almost every month.. my family in US sends package here in UK (kids toys, clothes and shoes for me). I always tell them to declared "used" item and mark as gifts.

I always make sure that they put below $50 as the value of the package. my package is always 40Lbs = $130ish shipping fee 6-10 days.

if your doing this for business just let them know your are not responsible for any tax duty..
