Internet giants seriously considering 'nuclear option' to stop SOPA

I can see how this could be bad, but what's wrong with the music/film companies shutting down illegal download sites?

As much as it pains me that I won't be able to visit NT for a day, it's needed. It's disturbing how most people on NT seemingly don't care.

Cliffs: Not only will illegal streaming/ download sites be taken down, any website with ANY copyrighted material could be. This includes: NT (say a music vid gets posted), YouTube, blogs, forums, etc. Potentially much of the internet could be blocked. This is a bill written by old people who have no idea how the internet works.
 
I'm all for the blackout but this is really hurting my income.

I think people are just afraid of the "what ifs"

Like what if they go after a 10 year old who uploaded a justin beiber video..

I see where the companies losing billions every year are coming from too actually paying for music/movies/software isn't part of the culture anymore

they need a better solution tho

If SOPA pass  Porn Studios can go in and shut down ALOT of Free Websites for copyright infringement just like any other company can. So no more **%*%@+@, NaughtyAmerica or whatever brand/network of porn you like for free. Get that CC out for that 30$ a month charge or its 100% amateur content if SOPA passes.

SOPA would ruin everything good about the internet. people need to be informed
 
I'm gonna make sure everyone I know visits GOOGLE tomorrow and actually reads about this....smh It's American exceptionalism at its finest, kind of ironic because we criticize China in the past for doing the same thing to their people but hey we'll put a veil on it and make it seem like something thats beneficial for American business and do they exacte same thing to our citizens.....I will have lost all hope if this passes. Money makes the world go round I guess PIPA/SOPA <<<<<<<<<<<
 
whoever proposed and composed this bill obviously has so much power and resources that i think eventually it will be passed one way or another i really hope it doesn't but most things come to an end.

this has been going on for a long time i think it started with the patriot act and when there was virtually no opposition great enough to stop that the people making these bills are having field days taking our rights away like its nothing
