So i seen that thread on tax returns and seen many wanting to invest.
I really want to try it. I know there are many well informed NT'ers with the topic.

I was planning on just putting down like $100 of  my taxes.

Many basic questions

1. How do i start?

2. How do i make money back?

3.How long does it take?

4. How much should i put in?

I would appreciate it.

thanks n advance

Eliminate or minimize debt.

Study, study, study.

I subscribe to Kiplinger. You can find a lot of start-up and beginner's articles there.

#1. Get out of debt first.  Investing is a nightmare if you lost your credit card or house payment.

#2. Most investments will have at least a $1000 minimum.

#3. Don't invest in anything you don't understand.  That's how you get taken for a ride!

#4. Look for investments (read: mutual funds) with at least a solid 10 year track record.

#5. If you're investing, you need to be willing to leave it alone for AT LEAST 5 years.  You have to be willing to ride the ups and downs of the market.

#6. Put in only what you would be willing to lose.  Don't play with your lunch money.  If you do, Murphy will probably end up taking it.
