I'm about to cop an iPhone 3G from my boy. I'm currently using some flip phone Samsung and have never copped a smartphone of any kind. Here's my question: Can i just throw in my regular AT+T sim card and use it to strictly call/text until I can get to AT+T on Saturday to figure out the data plan? Yes im a noob when it comes to this #@@*.

yes you can, i think there is a way to block the data service when you jailbreak it, but if you do not block it and at&t finds out they will add the data plan on your phone. why not just add the $15/month 200mb data though? what is a smartphone w/o data?

I'm definitely copping the data plan on Saturday, but im getting the phone later today and decided i'd front for a couple days

Or you can get an iPhone 4 for $200, check your upgrade status; you may want to hold off on that 3G and get a 3GS or a iPhone 4.

Aright so i copped this iPhone. Dude let me have it for 125 so i'm not complaining. I'm not sure if i have an upgrade, i probably do, but i told dude I was going to cop before i made this thread so I didnt wanna go back on my word. So here's my question, I don't have the data plan yet, im copping on saturday. But, the iPhone is letting me get on the internet in my crib. It's just connecting to the wireless internet that i already had inside my crib right? Like im not getting charged 50 cents a minute for this $!!* am I ?

I know im probably not because I can't get on Safari when i'm out, but i just wanna make sure. Sorry for the noob questions but thats what I am and Niketalk is all-knowing and the only place I go for $!!* like this so someone reassure me please
