is French Montana AA But Not Black?

I'm strongly Jamaican/West Indian but I'd be silly to deny or act offended by what I clearly am visibly. Your skin color isn't a culture, like it or not there is a layer self hate if you choose to separate from it. I understand though with the history of colonizers and slave master's telling folks you're inferior.

That is real talk all around.

Yeah but if Guerrero personally says to someone that calls him black, "no sir I'm Actually Latino" that should be honored, specially in American society where we so easily accept the likes of Catelyn Jenner overnight....that boy NH has more of a claim than Bruce ever did :lol
Latino isn't a race though. Technically he's a Black Latino. If Guerrero said he isn't black but Latino that's self-hate. The person who called him Black isn't wrong. Now if someone called him African-American and he said no I'm Dominican that works.

I get all that man :lol

We not talking the facts of African roots in the man's DNA...he can prance around that all he wants, HES BLACK TO EVERYONE AND ANYONE....he's never been wrong about how he wants to identify tho....he is in FACT Latino...and most Latinos will always identify first as Latino, second by where their parents or even grandparents were born, even if they have never set foot in their motherland and can't even speak Spanish.

Most will tell you, "I'm Haitian" same as NH will claim Dominican, saying they are black is redundant, in this melting pot of a nation we all hold a certain pride is subgrouping ourselves to eaither set ourselves apart from each other or interstate into our own little sub groups.

Black is too broad of a spectrum in this country being that there are blacks from all types of places that couldn't be more different from one another....HOW IS THIS HARD TO UNDERSTAND :rollin

There are definitely people of Latino ethnicity that will take offense though if you dare call them black. Even though that's their skin color. That's where the 'problem' comes in.

That's the purpose of the term Black it's a more inclusive term for African people around the dispora. There are Black Americans, Haitians, Nigerians, Cubans, etc. Black people aren't a monolithic group we have different, cultures, languages, and come from different places. The term Black embraces this diversity. It's not that difficult to understand. We could call folk Africans but that would complicate things.

Where did you grow up? Because I clearly remember being in High school and black girls actually bullying the **** out of hick Dominican chicks that if it wasn't for the different language could pass as their cousins....inclusive...I don't think so....everyone is to an extent prejudice....here on NT the battle for NHs self identity has been a long one and neither side will even attempt to meet half way....neither side is 100% right either.

You go around physically describing white dudes by their nationality? Do you have a point to make right now or do you just not understand the conversation?

You can't tell the difference between Irish and Italian B? They don't go out of their way to distinguish themselves further from their European roots? Sexy ya culture game up playa.

No if I don't know the person obviously I would identify them as what I initially see, skin color, Ninjahood without knowing him anyone will identify him as black, a fair skinned/blue eyed latino will be identified as white, now if that person corrects me and tells me they identify as Latino or place of birth I'm not gonna sit there and mock them, or fight them or claim them as "self hating" I will respect it...end of story.

Ya know this man identifies as a Latino and ya rather spend a decade mocking him and redundantly stating the obvious that h is also black....just meet that dude half way and stop
Identifying him as black...simple :lol

So those Black girls represent ALL black people? Find me a study that proves that Black Americans aren't inclusive. If you would read a damn book you would realize the historical background of the racial term BLack and why black folk often prefer the term Black over colored, AA etc. It's a more inclusive term to include our brothers and sisters around the globe. Scholars write about this stuff I'm not just making it up and it isn't based on anecdotal evidence like you've used.

To be honest with you I've always struggled with filling out applications like these

But have no issue with clear and concise ones like these

View media item 2402388

get used to da new one, cuz da older one's largest category became "other" due to people not liking their lack of representation.

Is the average person not familiar with ones ethnicity or background, gonna go look at that Latino or Hispanic when they see a Black Dominican with nappy hair like Vlad Guerrero, and say Well look there goes that Latino when they see him for the first time without hearing him speak???

The changes to the census are needed. We will be able to examine disparities better. In the past Latinos who identified as White on the census often muddied up social scientific data because their data is recorded in the White section. Some scholars say Latino inclusion brings down the averages of white wealth stats, poverty numbers etc. Without latinos in white section disparities may be more alarming.

Most don't really care to start, he's typically the one that throws the train off its tracks.
