He is indeed. After all, he did inspire MLK, who helped change our culture for the better

I believe so to some extent, he's more of a historical icon to me though. The things he did in his lifetime were significant enough to reach places outsideof India.

sure he is.

But I'm Indian (punjabi) & in no way do I look up to him or see him worthy of (all) the respect he has now.
He did big things, props to him.
But he also did those big things for specific religions of India.
