is there anyway to remove the strap and velcro on son of mars?

Very little known fact. If you put the shoes in the microwave for 10 mins it will cause the strap and Velcro to fall off. The rest of the shoe will unharmed.

maybe try using a seam ripper to detach it

you put the seam ripper under each connecting thread and cut it lose

then you should be able to wiggle it loose
