Is this paying homage, or is this just racist?

So, at the hospital I'm currently working for, the cafeteria decided to honor the great Martin Luther King Jr. by serving this:

When I saw this, I didn't know what to think at all. At first I :smh: :x , then I kinda chuckled. Now I'm just confused.

Is this no big deal, or is this just stereo typical racism?

Just looking for people point of views.

its pure stereotypical racial profiling..... but still funny

Better get on that plate OP.

It's stereotyping, but not racist. Also how do we not know that Martin Luther the king himself didnt like these items!!!

Would grub on that in a heartbeat, hospital food is usually on point. Especially if there are some brothas in the back cooking.

If an Italian man is being honored would it be offensive to serve Italian food in their honor?

If a Hispanic gets honored is it offensive to serve rice, beans and roast pork?

If this is indeed a traditional African American plate or "soul food" how is it offensive?

Would it make a difference what ethnicity the person was that planned the menu? Would it make a difference if it those were actually Dr. King's favorite foods?
