underground vs. mainstream...its always gonna boil down to that and I aint comparin'. Dilla for the eclectic real @#@%, Ye for the wow and replay effect.

I'd pick Kanye just outta preference, and it kinda hurts Dilla that alot of those rappers over his beats was on that extra backpack $%**....
but no producer was able to get them soul beats and still keep that that raw hiphop feel like Dilla, ever, with the exception of Pete Rock (and thats just b/cof his extensive catolog of classics). Them drums
Kanye do go out his way to recreate the essence of Dilla's beats and has himself stated at one point he felt Dilla was the goat, so...

I'm tryna find this dude. He made 2 mixtapes. One was J Dilla The other was Kanye. He would play the sample first than mix it in with thekanye or dilla beat. And if you listen to both mixtapes you can clearly see Kanye had more range than dilla did as a musician. At the end of the day it'sall preference but I believe Ye has a bigger ear for music than dilla(rip).

Just cause one producer says another is the goat doesnt mean they are the goat. It just means they are the goat in that producers eyes. Just how I think Yemakes better beats than dilla, Ye may not think that. Just how I rather listen to food & liquor than It Was Written, Lupe would look at my foolish. At theend of the day it's all opinion.

not "hurt his catolog", hurt me wanting to listen to it, I was just talkin bout my personal preference. Madlib, MF Doom, etc, I really dont be on all that (that Jaylib 'Starz' is my @%%# tho)...
