Jailbreaking Iphone 3g

Tryna Jailbreak this old Iphone 3g, and this joint is about to go right back in a old box to collect dust cause this is hard as @*!#. Just wondering if it's any easier from a mac, so I can attempt this when I get to my girls house before I call it quits.
