yup. the last 6 games he started his 2nd yr he looked like he would fulfill some of his potential
then he showed up out of shape AGAIN. He just doesnt get it.

The Raiders are just an awful organization from top to bottom, how do they expect their players to succeed in that sort of an environment?

Not only is this a Jamarcus Russell problem, its starting to become a LSU problem once guys hit the pros.

LaRon Landry sure isn't lazy when it comes to working/training...just not that good and hasn't translated onto the field.

And last year after watching the Raiders beat the Eagles, I thought that might have been the game that turned his career around.....
Lavar Arrington on his radio show yesterday made an interesting observation about Russell when he came in for Gradkowski during the Skins game...he said as soon as Russell hit the field, it looked like the entire team was deflated and just gave up....

The Raiders are actually going in the right direction for once. With KC just as bad and Denver being ran into the ground... we have a chance. JC is solid.

I would say no because honestly, how much do people REALLY expect out of a black QB. How many have "truly" been anything special.
Not saying that with any self-hatred but I wouldn't be TRULY disappointed if I had a rodent issue and instead of buying a cat I just bought a dog and the dog failed. I mean, what did I really expect. So what if the dog had sharp teeth.
Can't be surprised, and because of that I would say no. Not the biggest bust of all time.

Jamarcus is a different case...and it goes deeper than just skin color my man. He has ZERO work-ethic...he did close to nothing to help himself out. He never gave himself a chance....that falls on HIS shoulders. Him being black has nothing to do with this...
and I do see your points about the reclamation projects like Leaf etc....but, there's no way that Russell goes the whole offseason without signing w. another team. He'll be on another NFL roster. He'll probably get one more chance, and that's it....
in thinking about it, even screw ups like Quincy Carter got a 2nd chance....

to bring up DC's point, how many black QBs are allowed to fail on their first opportunity and then get chance after chance after chance to be a reclamation project.

I am sure him being black has a lot to do with it.
The same way not MUCH is expected out of white players that do make the NFL, not much is REALLY expected out of a black qb. Yea he was the 1st pick, but my point here is he "Bust" rating won't be as high as it would be if he were a white qb. Why? Because black qbs already don't have a great history in this league. The black QB's that ARE given a chance USUALLY fail. And that is to say white is better or black is better.
Re-read what I am saying because you are focusing your attention on WHY he failed, while I am looking at his failing should have been somewhat expected based on history.

he wasnt a beast at lsu. dude choked in all the big games with his %!%!!$+ decision making and that lsu team he played for was stacked. that mental ****** should thank nds pathetic defense for propelling him to be the #1 pick. lucky for him oline is a big need in the nfl and his fatass might have a future as a left guard.

Can you elaborate on this analogy, I don't get it.
I am basically saying that black qb's (dogs) have a low success rate in the NFL (rodent control). Even though he was the first pick and is a great ATHLETE (has sharp teeth) much shouldn't be expected from him if you look at it from a historic POV.
I am not saying that black qb's are a guaranteed failure, but based on sheet numbers, they somewhat are. Not many get the chance to start for an NFL team, and large number that do never live up to their hype.
YES, I know white players fail too, but they also have a large sample size to chose from so they failures don't stand out as easily as their black counterparts.
So what I am saying is since JM shouldn't be considered the biggest bust of all time considering the lack of success historically black qb's have had in the NFL.
