Following his Academy award-winning performance in the biopic 'Ray,' actor/singer Jamie Foxx is looking to take on the challenge of playing boxer Mike Tyson. Foxx is planning on linking with 'Ray' director Taylor Hackford for the film on Tyson's troubled life.

"We have a certain kinship, and we've talked about when we do get back together what it would be like," Foxx said of working with Hackford. "I think, for something like this, it would be great because everybody remembers that era and it's been a long enough time that people need [refreshing]."

Tyson gave viewers a window into his personal life by way of his self-titled documentary released earlier this year. Foxx however is looking to delve even deeper into the former heavyweight champion's life. "I've reached out to Mike [Tyson] and I've been open about it. Of all the biopics out there he has the most interesting story that no one has ever heard. I've been privy to know some of the private things that I just think are so amazing. It's different because someone said 'you know [Muhammad] Ali was this...and the Brown bomber... they had a great story and it was redemptive.' I said '[These are] the stories we have today.' There are no redemptive stories, there are just stories that just happen."

Foxx can be seen in the upcoming flick 'Law Abiding Citizen,' alongside Gerard Butler. He is also currently on tour promoting his second album 'Intuition', which wraps up Oct. 17 in Los Angeles.

This movie is about to overhyped and will probably fall flat on its face. Jamie Foxx? Really?

Fam, the Ray director and Jamie = gold and probably Oscar consideration depending how good it is. Jamie is the only person in Hollywood that couldplay Mike. If you saw that movie Redemption, Jamie can pull off this role.

I haven't seen Redemption so I can't speak on that. However, as someone else said, I always feel these movies are pointless. The Tyson Docwas amazing. I just don't see what will be new about this movie. I feel like almost every angle about Tyson has been covered. Documentaries about athletesare soooooo much better than movies on them, IMO. I guess I'll just wait and see.

Another biopic Jamie? I saw "The Soloist" and it was alright.
Hopefully his Tyson performance will be as good as Ray...

Documentaries don't have the same mass appeal as regular movies. A Tyson biopic wouldn't be made for the Tyson fan who knows his lifestory, although many would go to see it. It would be made to attract a wide audience who doesn't know his story, and would capitalize on the success of Rayas well as Foxx and Hackford's increased Hollywood prestige. It's not just about telling a story, it's about making money and trying to win someOscars.

He really isn't a GREAT actor but he was great in Ray and will probably be great in this. I think it takes a good story and director to bring it out of himand this is one of those situations.

Foxx is a good actor, although they could have gotten a better one for this film.
But I'm tired of hearing about Tyson. How about a film about Monzon?
Now that's a fighter who can keep an audiences attention.

Hopefully a Duran film can get made too.

Better Mike Tyson than Bob Marley.

Any movie about Mike's life is pretty much guaranteed to be entertaining. With Jamie involved, sounds like a win, win.

Interesting to see if he can pull a Will Smith and do the psychical training necessary to be really convincing.

Michael Jae White did a good job in the HBO movie too.
