This was my first time wearing them and they were pretty stiff, but I think that's more because my feet are moderately wide. If I had more average width feet I don't think it would be an issue. Dumped some water on them just for the hell of it and my socks were bone dry. Gore-Tex does it's job as advertised. I hope they break in more
