Does anybody own one? Are they a good whip for a graduating student to cop for the beach in the summer and the snow in the winter? How bad is gas on it, really? Reliability?
Stories?

I think they are sick as hell...A co-worker had one but he traded it in for a Jeep Commander bc he wanted something bigger...I say if you are going to use it for its purpose then go for it...Jeeps hold their value pretty well and are really reliable...they last well over 200k miles if you take care of it

Please do. And give a little review. How much do you drive a week?

It's an everyday car for me right now. Gas mileage is prob below avg, depending on what you're used it. I title swapped my '08 BMW X5 4.8 for it, so it took a second to get used to the lack of power. It's def not a burner. So far, so good, though. I'm ready for the summer. No top, no doors!Back piece of the hard top is heavy as hell. I don't off-road, so I can't speak on that, btw.

(All of this is dealing with older models, like pre-2000) They're a ton of fun, but not practical for a lot of people. Gas mileage is not great. If you've got the 6 cylinder, you have a little more power but the mileage is as you'd expect. You'd think the 4 cylinder would get better mileage, but it actually doesn't make much difference. The 4 banger is almost too weak to push the box-on-wheels down the road. It's pretty much the least-aerodynamic shape you could design, so the wind resistance is serious. You're not gonna be breaking any landspeed records.
If you're getting a soft top, be prepared for the road noise (hard to have quiet conversations going down the road, annoying when trying to make a phone call, etc.). Also, it's gonna feel cold in the winter with little amounts of air coming in.

That being said, there's nothing like taking the top off and the doors off and cruising in the summer time. I'll have one someday, but I won't ever have one for a daily driver. I just want a toy that I can knock around in and not care about messing it up. That's when they're the most fun
