I've had more success landing interviews while still employed. I remember being asked on an interview what I had been up to while unemployed when I didnt have a job. So make sure you are doing something to better yourself while looking (ex. certification) and have that story ready. Is it easiier get a job when your currently working ?
Thanks, yes its temp to hire and it's a logistics/dispatch company.Good luck bro. What kind of job is it and is it temp to hire?I interview with a job through a temp agency on Tuesday that pays $18/hr. Lord knows I need that in my life. I do extremely well on interviews so I'm confident that I'm going to get it. My only issue now is finding somewhere to live. I called about 20 complexes today and maybe 4 answered. insane.
If anyone in Houston knows of a room for rent or apartment w/ immediate move in, lmk. I've been on craigslist looking for rooms to rent. there's some crazy stuff on there.
damn. I been there bro. Exact scenario and all. My plant had a a 2 week shut down for The 4th of july. 1 week paid, 1 week lay off. Lady on the phone was like, all right we're abiut all set, I just have to out you on hold for a few minutes. Got cut off while ibwas on hold. Said fuxk it, went to my union rep, explained what happen, and she went and faxed all my paperwork the UIA office. 2 weeks later got my $$Wooooooow. Just waited on hold for 2 1/2 hours to file a unemployment claim and when I finally got through, she got disconnected and I have to do this tedius stuff all over again just to talk to someone
CongratulationsAfter a year and a half of not being able to find steady employment (temp work) and having to move back in with my pops () I finally got a full-time job
Making enough to get my own place in the spring (no roommates), full benefits + paid overtime, get to wear jeans to work most of the time.
Couldn't be happier man, forreal, good things come to those who wait.....(or damn near overdraft their bank accounts)

Been thinking bout moving out of state as well.....would like some tips from anybody who has done soAnyone have experience applying for jobs in a state where they currently do not reside? Part of me feels like out of state apps just get thrown in the recycle bin, but then if you use an in state address and they call, they always end up getting annoyed with the fact that you arent currently in the state.
Anyone?

I'm facing that problem as well. Been trying to move out of state. It is definitely an uphill battle. I would suggest calling the company you applied to about a week or so and inquire as to if they will consider you so you know to move on. Tell them you understand that you are from out of state but applied for a reason, not just for your health. I've been trying to get around to it myself, I just don't like talkin about other jobs while I'm at work and the company has the same hours as I do.

Glad to see other people know what I'm dealing with. Idk how people pull this off successfully, are they quitting their jobs and moving prior to having a job?

Sure doesnt feel like it.Is it easiier get a job when your currently working ?
I'd say yeah. I had a 2 week break for the holidays and was like **** that job. Came back chopped it up with my boss, told him I was thinking about quitting, he talked me out of and reiterated it was easier to get another job when you're employed. Networking for my new job, while on my current job
