John Mayer's "Assassin" Appreciation

It took me a while to get the gist of what he was trying to convey in this song, but once I got it I was indeed blown away.

It's not my favorite song from the album (Edge of Desire) but it's definitely one of Mayer's best.

There can be different interpretations as to what he is trying to convey.

Personally, I think it's about the fear of commitment. The constant flings with a new person each night until one or the other starts to feel a little tooattached. That's when one has to make a conscious effort to dead it. After all it was just sex nothing more. The other person may feel offended by this anddecide that they are more than just a late night %+%# and refuse altogether to give it up again. The problem is you are indeed attached but just don't knowhow to commit or what a meaningful relationship truly means.

I felt this way after two weeks of Battle Studies being out, and still feel the same way.

Battle Studies>>>any Mayer album. This joint is just incredible all around.
