LOS ANGELES – Kobe Bryant is pursuing his sixth NBA championship, a benchmark that would match Michael Jordan’s career total and immediately launch a debate about how the Los Angeles Lakers star measures up to the league’s greatest player ever.

Jordan, however, doesn’t sound quite ready to allow Bryant to stand toe to toe with him.

“He is always going to be within the conversations of some of the greatest players who’ve played, by the time he is finished,

I don't know how NBA fans and NBA writers do this.

Basketball has the shortest off season of the major sports yet it manages to continually post garbage after garbage after garbage.  Bunch of he said, she said articles.

It’s an accurate statement,

Can it be anymore obvious?
I don't see it. Everything he said is out of respect to all the great opposing guards he has played against and to the history of basketball. Kobe seems to not take it personal, takes it in stride, and understands it.
Unless you mean it is obvious that he wants to come back...

yay another jordan vs kobe post.

and for the record jordan has spoken very highly of kobe in the past over the years, so i wouldn't even look at this as coming across as hating or anything like that.

Man, Mike said Dumars was his toughest opponent. So who knows how he is ranking them. He played in an era where he considered guys like Reggie, Drexler, and Mitch Richmond to be the elite guards. That rounds out Mike's top 5 right there.

Saying he could score 100 in today's NBA is basically saying that anybody playing now has it easy. So of course it's gonna come off like he's trying to slight #24 a little bit.

I don't really see the big deal here.
