Just let my pair go on SX for 320... the comfort between these and the laneys are day and night. Not sure how 14s were allowed to be released like that. Might replace them with the taxi 12s dropping in a few weeks...

This is the reason the majority of modern retros are bricks on feet compared to their OG and early retro counterparts. They can adjust the composition of PU or phylon to make them soft or firm, and I’m willing to bet it’s more cost effective to do the latter.

No idea about cost although I can’t believe the chemical composition changes the price but the hard midsoles goes back to paint and crumbling midsoles on 3-5 15 years ago fell apart. They just make these decisions across models and never consider or care about the wear experience. I guess they’d rather have a product that lasts on a shelf for 15 years rather than be comfortable to make collectors feel good

Pretty much.

I’d rather a PU midsole be nice and soft for 8-10 years than be a brick for 15 years or so.

They probably didn't like seeing their shoes crumbling and fans complaining and scolding others to "wear your sneakers." Quick fix is to throw in a comfortable insole I guess and move on.

Insoles don’t fix discomfort from hard midsoles though. The entire point of a midsole existing defies the intention of making it uncomfortable. Seems like people think the midsole is just decorative and not where the air units and foam reside.

I swap out every stock insole to begin with but it’s not fixing an inherent build flaw. Also I find it crazy a shoe manufacturer would take issue with 15+ year old shoes appearing on the internet in some crumbled form and then make them worse. There’s no logic behind it.

With how often they retro many J’s using a softer midsole would just make more sense. Just means you actually gotta wear the shoes sooner rather than later which is what we should be doing anyway lol.

I do think it’s easier to use one cheap compound to make all the midsoles. Air maxes retros all feel like that garbage too. Zoom units help with responsiveness but don’t really do much for comfort.

I do laugh at people complaining that shoes don’t last 10-15 years. Just funny to me

The air max 97 has to be the worst, feels just like you’re standing on a brick I ain’t lying!
