**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Still gotta hold firm. Still have the best offer without selling out. If anything this increases our leverage. Could realistically win the west without AD

Honestly I'd do one of the kids + the pick and go after Beal, we'd def still be favorites in the West next season.

??

With the roster we have now we can.

Kerr can’t coach without his Stars. Curry/Draymond not gonna be able to do it alone for 82+
THERE DEPTH IS BASURA

He's saying those teams time at the top is over. Houston & GS are done. We're competing with the Nuggets, Blazers, Jazz and Thunder now.

I'm saying..GSW done. Houston and Portland fugazi. We're competing with the nuggets and clippers. Clippers only if they get Kawhi, then it's a LeBron led team v Kawhi led team. Definitely not a sure thing but I like our core over theirs and if we get AD + one of BI/Zo/Kuz it's no contest. We can win the west with or without AD

Ohhhhh my bad then.

Been saying it for years now but LAKERS 2020

I'm good with that too, but how you gonna pay em all (Bron, Zo, Ingram, Kuz, plus 2019 free agent) when AD comes to us for free in 2020?

Only one that will have to go is Ingram. Zo & Kuz's contracts aren't up until 2021 and we can go over the cap to resign them.

So if we stick with Zo, Kuz, Bron the next 2 years, and trade Ingram for x player, are you saying we'd be able to pay everyone plus whichever big name free agent we sign this summer? And on top of that still have enough space to sign AD in 2020?

No there is no room for a free agent this summer. AD would be the free agent next summer but we'd have great depth.

Same. already been talking a whole lot of mess to my buddies. They know their time is up.

Not possible. Even if we don’t sign anyone this FA we will be extremely limited next offseason.

2020 cap is projected to be 118M. Including salaries and cap holds we’d be around 101M in commitments (https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/LAL.html). Reason why it’s so inflated is because we’ll have a 21M cap hold for BI who will be a RFA. Davis will command around 35M with the new cap meaning we gotta clear out around 17M.

So with Ingram, either we trade him now or we’ll be needing to pay him next year. If he performs well this year we’re going to owe him a bag which will exceed 21M.. if he sucks/gets injured again, that’s not really good for us either. You could let him walk as an RFA to free up money but then you let him go for nothing. But in essence it’d be an Ingram for Davis swap just a year later.

If the lakers want to get 3 max, this is really the only time they can do it.
