I'm surprised they play it in Florida though. It's mostly a north/northeast thing.

Lacrosse is huge in the Northeast specifically Central New York and Long Island. My school has won the national championship back to back so school spirit for LAX is at a high right now. The only thing I don't like is that it is very expensive to play. Why would you be annoyed that its catching on? Any publicity for the sport is great.

The girls game emphasizes skill and speed over strength. My friend is an All-American.Originally Posted by wildcard

yep. and it is DEFINITELY new - like last couple of years. I guess I am just being a hater, I just find it hard to accept new, bizarre (to me) sports like that. I even have a lacrosse shirt for my school and ball in it but turn it inside out so it's not showing... and you know- there's even a GIRLS team, they don't even wear pads and can't even hit eachother. Isn't that like the only point of the flippin game? Or so i've heard

I'm from LI and like dude said, it's big out here.
I'm not from the Island but I know a lot of people who played for their school's LAX team while they were in high school. They play forthe club teams at their schools. I go to Syracuse. Looking forward to a possible 3 peat.
i'm from Maryland aka Lacrosse Central
Maryland IS NOT Lacrosse central.

If the lacrosse team at your school is a bunch of unathletic kids, then your lacrosse team sucks.
I live in Maryland, and lacrosse is huge in the Northeast especially amongs the upper crust i.e. boarding schools and the Ivy League.
Other than that, though, I don't think people are really on it outside of the Northeast down to Virginia.
I used to play it, and it IS a real sport. It's very physical and you need to have good coordination. Plus it's mad fun, so I suggest you get a lacrosse stick and a ball (which is very heavy compared to the balls of other sports) and toss it around with the unathletic kids. You'll be hooked just on the motions of cradling, passing, and shooting.
