How do ya'll feel about it? And is it pretty big to you people in high school? I live by the beach in Florida and they got a team like two years ago. Ipersonally can't stand lacrosse, hockey or whatever and i'm really annoyed at how quick it's caught on at my school. They're gettin treatedlike us football/basketball/any REAL sport people watch players, but it seems to me like they're just the unathletic kids who want to be on a team. AND Ihate hearin em talk about " oh man I just got that new such and such stick today"... is anyone with me on this, am I just being a hater, or haslacrosse never even been around your school and you have no clue what i'm talking about.

i like lacrosse, my high school didnt have a team so i unfortunately never got a chance to play, and it is by far a real sport

i came in here thinking about a buick

You're being a hater.

If the lacrosse team at your school is a bunch of unathletic kids, then your lacrosse team sucks.

I live in Maryland, and lacrosse is huge in the Northeast especially amongs the upper crust i.e. boarding schools and the Ivy League.

Other than that, though, I don't think people are really on it outside of the Northeast down to Virginia.

I used to play it, and it IS a real sport. It's very physical and you need to have good coordination. Plus it's mad fun, so I suggest you get alacrosse stick and a ball (which is very heavy compared to the balls of other sports) and toss it around with the unathletic kids. You'll be hooked just onthe motions of cradling, passing, and shooting.

Lacrosse is huge in the Northeast specifically Central New York and Long Island. My school has won the national championship back to back so school spirit forLAX is at a high right now. The only thing I don't like is that it is very expensive to play. Why would you be annoyed that its catching on? Any publicityfor the sport is great.

and yeah btw i completely understand how big it is up north. I'm not even hating on that- I completely understand that and hockey are where its at upthere, but understand I live in Florida. plus it's not even an actual sport listed in athletics, it's just a club sport

I think it's pure athletics, rather than skill. You give Reggie Bush a lax stick and a few weeks of training, let him learn cradling etc, and he'll bethe most prolific scorer in the history of the sport. It's a very interesting sport to watch live, as well.

You're silly. Lacrosse takes a lot of fitness and athletic skill.

I'm surprised they play it in Florida though. It's mostly a north/northeast thing.

i'm from Maryland aka Lacrosse Central.. i was surprised when i found out people from other areas werent up on lacrosse like that.

its like a whole culture here.. they all have the exact same shaggy haircuts

yep. and it is DEFINITELY new - like last couple of years. I guess I am just being a hater, I just find it hard to accept new, bizarre (to me) sports likethat. I even have a lacrosse shirt for my school and ball in it but turn it inside out so it's not showing... and you know- there's even a GIRLS team, they don't even wear pads and can't even hit eachother. Isn't that like the only point of the flippin game? Or so i've heard

The girls game emphasizes skill and speed over strength. My friend is an All-American.

I'm not from the Island but I know a lot of people who played for their school's LAX team while they were in high school. They play forthe club teams at their schools. I go to Syracuse. Looking forward to a possible 3 peat.

i'm from Maryland aka Lacrosse Central
Maryland IS NOT Lacrosse central.

You're a tool that doesn't understand the game. Ask anybody who has played it and they will tell you how much fun they had. It's football withsticks that you can use to hit your opponent with, how in the world is that lame?

This.

Lacrosse is popular in parts of Florida. All the high schools in my area had teams.

You're judging it for the wrong reasons based on your one isolated experience with it.

Get educated and stop being ignorant.

i know a bunch of my friends got scholarships to play lacrosse at some ivy league schools. our team was pretty good as far as i can remember. it's coo inmy book i guess. although i hated running track while they were practicing

blah!

OK. obviously i have seen that NOBODY is on my side or can even appreciate where i'm coming from-so you know what? I can admit if i've been beatenbuttt.... i'm gonna parlay this into a different topic pertaining to this. Another of my beefs with it is that like noone goes to the games (and even ifthey do it's nowhere compared to that of other major sports. Where I go which is clearly volleyball, football, and baseball. Now tell me why all money fromall sports fundraisers have to go to the general athletic department? which ends up funneling into our football program- for example we bought a 1500 dollargiant inflatable helmet for our team to run through. Now I know I might be being a hypocrite because the only sport I play is basketball and we're prettymuch garbage, but I blame this partially on us not being a basketball school. Our coach sucks, kids skip practice and are able to get away with it because thecoaches are all up on certain players _____. Nyways it's messed up that like- through selling candy last year we made like 800$. I say a fundraiser likethat done just through our team, the money should go to us, like new uniforms (we've had the same ones for like ten years). Needless to say no name brandgear at all- while the football team is all nike'd out. DOES ANYONE FEEL ME? oR AM I STILL ALONE?
