I'm hearing he may want to go the Brandon Jennings route and colleges are not giving him the looks as much anymore? What's the deal with his sexualassault?

He goes to court in less than a month for the sexual assault.

i think colleges are waiting for the result of his trial before they take further action.

i know Maryland isn't pursuing him anymore, not sure what Arizona and other schools are thinking.

he will probably end up at Memphis... they like kids like that.

Arizona is no longer pursuing. Derrick Williams took our last scholarship

Nobody cares about his sexual assault case. It all comes down to whether he will qualify academically and his website. Supposedly he's signing withCincinnati this weekend. Got that part from the College Basketball thread. If he doesn't qualify he'll probably be in Europe.

Nope, we stopped pursuing him for pretty much the aforementioned reasons. Very few people think he'll end up on a court, and not bring sanctions to hisschool.

St Johns could use him

I know his family personally, so im hoping all goes well for him....

I hope he goes to college, he needs to smooth out the rough edges in his game.....

He's a recruiting violation waiting to happen and the sexual assault case didn't help.

As of now I believe the only commitable offer is FIU and apparently Cincy. He'll commit to Cincy but end up in Europe because I doubt he qualifies.

Ya Cincincati,
but i would like to see some one go the D-League rout. i just want to see how that works

I didn't think they could go the D-League route, since it's governed by the NBA... Is that option available to them?

Lance Stephenson, one of the best wings in the country and the final major incoming freshman without a college, has signed a financial aid agreement withCincinnati and will join the team for the 2009-10 season.

"We are very excited about Lance's decision to become a Bearcat," Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin said in a school statement. "Lance hasterrific talent as a basketball player, and is also a fierce competitor on the court. His desire to win will help us compete for a Big East Championship.

"As a big guard, Lance brings playmaking ability and versatility to our team, along with his talent for scoring. We look forward to getting Lance here forsummer school and building our team for the upcoming season."

A local Cincinnati sports talk show host had this on his blog: His dad sounds like a nut.

Things I'm told
Here is what I have gathered on UC recruit Lance Stephenson, from current and former college coaches I talked to this afternoon:
Strengths
"a physically imposing guard...he can dominate off the dribble...he can crush people on the way to the rim....he can carry defenders with him....but hewill quickly learn you just can't be physical in the Big East...he needs to raise is basketball IQ"
"He's a streak shooter....I'd say average overall....simply because of shot selection...the problem is he shoots when he feels likeit.....He's a classic NY City driver to the basket....I watched him score 16 points in a quarter this year. Nobody could stop him."
"If he's taught and he's committed, he could be a good defender, just because he's so strong....."He can have a killer instinct and awill to win....when things are going right....he can be a warrior at times.
Issues:
"He's a risk because he's never been told no....you will wind up spending more time coaching him than anyone else on the roster....he's achemistry killer.....his emotions are all over the board....he's grown up with a sense of entitlement...his dad is a lunatic. a whack job, that made Lancea "me" and "I" guy."
"I watched him at the McDonald's All-American game. During the game he kept yelling at someone in the stands. Finally I turned around and looked. Itwas his dad. They were jawing at stuff he was doing...during the game!"
"He's immature on the court..very temperamental. His big adjustment will be playing without the ball in his hands. He doesn't move well withoutit. He's always had it. He can kill the flow of your offense."
On UC and Mick:
"I've been asked about Lance by a number of coaches...could they coach him? is he worth the trouble?. I wouldn't wish this kid on anew/inexperienced coach....the kid would eat the coach up. I think Mick is a very good choice. Mick is seasoned. It's not his first rodeo. I think he canmake this work. He's got the moxy to discipline Lance, to put him in his place and get the most out of him...without losing him. Let's face it,Mick's dealt with crazy guys at UC and UL. He won't be afraid to discipline this kid."

i have no idea. I could have sworn i heard someone during the draft say the D-League was an option. I gotta look that up.

A financial aid package? So he's gonna be a walk-on?
