Lancer- Lancer Evo conversion?

I'm new to cars and I decided to buy a car of my own. However I am short, financially, to buy a real evo and I don't think I need a real racing/rally car to drive everyday. It's just that since I was young I've always wanted to have a lancer evo. So I was thinking to settle to buy a regular lancer and just customize it. Then I saw someone selling a lancer evo IV engine (Includes the Computer Box, Transmission, Turbo and Intercooler) and this thought came to me.

So here is my question:

Has anyone tried converting a regular lancer pizza (1996-2004 lancer's) to a evo IV, V or VI? I know customizing the look may be "easier" but I was wondering about the engine compatibility.

If this is possible, how? What are the things I need to do?

For what its gonna cost to turn a FF car into a 4WD/AWD(not sure which one it is exactly), you might as well buy a brand new one.

Def not worth it. You would spend alot of money and time just on the exterior having to swap hood, fenders, bumper, lights, wheels..etc. You're better off saving up money to get a real evo.

If you're looking into having an old school evo you should look into buying a Mirage and could convert it into an Evo V. Also not worth it imo with all the importing that you're going to have to do with all the parts. I've seen one in person and its was dope.

Anything is possible, with enough money which you emphasized you dont have much. Keep in mind you will fail emissions (if your state has emission laws) unless you know someone.

Just buy a turbo mirage. Those are a dime a dozen.

N$$$$A THATS lame as hell. do you know why an evo cost WAYYYY more than an lancer????? the only thing they (normal lancer and EVO) have in common is the interior NOTHING ELSE!!!! OP whats your budget???? if you got 10k to spend just buy a 350z or S2000.... just not a lancer... you will thank me in years to come

Personally . In this case being that there's a HUGE difference between the regular lancer and the evo in that model. Id keep it stock. It's TOO much work like someone in here said. if it was the newer model you coulda gotten away with it.

I saw on the net a guy who converted his mirage(forgot the year) to a custom evo. so it is possible however I don't know how much it will cost and it really looked like a lot of work. maybe I'll just settle for that 2-door lancer/mirage or the regular lancer I was talking about. god help me with my decisions in life haha. thank you again.

Just buy a 95 to 99 gsx if you cant afford an evo. It too has awd 4g63 turbo looks clean esp. 97to 99 and easily make power
