Left for Dead 2 co-op help

hey im trying to play co-op offline with 2 of my buddies so we can have 3 of us do a campaign on L4D2 but its only letting 2 of us enter the game ive been trying to search for an answer on how to sign the 3rd guy in but i cant figure it out...on the back it says offline co-op is 2-8 players so if someone can help me out to allow all 3 of us to play id appreciate it thanks
