My homie and I were talking bout how it would be funny if MJ tried another comeback to get some of this NBA money bieng thrown around during free agency. Then i wondered, why dont they let them play at the All Star game. just a game for legends: MJ, Nique, Hakeem, Ewing, Magic, Ai, etc. They all love to play and we know they mostly washed, but we would still watch for nostalgia. That means ratings and merch/ jerseys sales. We could see who still got some of it, who dont, and it would be fun just to see all the greats in the same place.

The NBA used to do one. It was really depressing. Believe me, you don't want to see it.

Yeah i would love to see that. And I'm sure MJ would still be the best player among those retired nba hofs.

That would be a good idea for an all star event.

Ice Cube has the answer for NBA nostalgia.

With entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz by his side, Ice Cube formally announced the beginnings of the BIG3 basketball league, which will feature former NBA stars playing 3-on-3 games, on Tuesday.

The leagues most prominent embassador thus far is hall of famer Allen Iverson, who will be crossing people over on the court as a player and preaching about how dumb practice is as a coach.

“The BIG3 was created as the ultimate basketball fan experience,” Ice Cube said. “We're bringing some of the baddest names to ever play the game, and giving them a platform to not only showcase their skills, but to entertain their fans in a high-energy, physical and competitive environment. As a diehard basketball fan, I personally can't wait to see my favorite players back in action.”

Other former NBA players that will take part in the league include Kenyon Martin, Rashard Lewis, Chauncey Billups, Jason Willimas and Mike Bibby.

BIG3 will consist of eight teams with five players on each competing over a 10-week season, the final two of which will serve as the playoffs.

Instead of using a clock, the first team that gets to 60 points wins.

There will be a draft to fill the rosters in March and the league’s first season starts on June 24

Maybe it's just nostalgia but I loved watching that - maybe it was different 30 years ago but Barry, West, O, Pistol and more going against each other was great.

I'd love to see a more modern version - I'm betting Stockton, Pippen, GP, DRob and plenty more are in decent shape and are competitive enough to make it entertaining.

I think Chuck would have a heart attack though.

That Ice Cube league sounds like hoop it up for retired NBA'ers. With those types of names I'll def check it out if a network like ESPN or Fox picks it up.

Chances this is on tv and not streamed online?

Not sure if I want to see any of the legends play a game.

But I would love to see MJ in the skills competition. I'd tune in to that.

dont expect anything competitive just some exhibition type show
