Albert and Bernard just met Cheryl. “When’s your birthday?” Albert asked Cheryl.

Cheryl thought a second and said, “I’m not going to tell you, but I’ll give you some clues.” She wrote down a list of 10 dates:

May 15 — May 16 — May 19

June 17 — June 18

July 14 — July 16

August 14 — August 15 — August 17

“My birthday is one of these,” she said.

Then Cheryl whispered in Albert’s ear the month — and only the month — of her birthday. To Bernard, she whispered the day, and only the day.

“Can you figure it out now?” she asked Albert.

Albert: I don’t know when your birthday is, but I know Bernard doesn’t know, either.

Bernard: I didn’t know originally, but now I do.

Albert: Well, now I know, too!

When is Cheryl’s birthday?

If you have an answer, put in a spoiler...

May 19
The 19th is the only day that isn't duplicated. When Bernard reveals that he new, which caused Albert to confirm that it was May, because the 19th was the only DAY that wasn't duplicated

Wrong...

Saw it earlier so I know the answer but this is problem is troll math.

Apparently this is what they're giving 14/15 year olds in Singapore for math class which I dont believe.

June 18th OR May 19th.

18th and 19th are the only days that don't have a duplicate month.  (Ex.: July/August 14th, May/August 15th, May/July 16th, etc.)

Albert is told the month, Bernard the day.

Bernard says he knows after she told him.

Eff your spoiler. I'm probably wrong, anyways.

The more important question is what year she was born? How our they supposed to get the yambs without knowing her age?

They do, it is a Olympiad style Math problem. Not troll math

Kids involved in it in America work on problems like this too.

The thing the standard American math curriculum don't contain much in the way of logic, number theory, and advanced word problems

Seems more like a logic problem than a math problem.
But maybe I'm just stupid :lol

Logic is the foundation of Math doe.

Many countries teach logic as part of their math curriculum, if you take a Discrete Math or Math for Comp. Science logic is always usually the first topic covered, and pick up any of those prep textbooks for math undergrads and there is always a chapter on thinking logically.

The real question is who would want to be friends with an obnoxious **** like Cheryl who plays with dudes' minds?

After a proper explanation this isn't as complex as you would think :lol

Never would've understood it prior.
