wut up nt,
Right now I am doing better in school than I have ever done in my life (I'm a freshman in college) and I am more content than I have ever been.
It seems like almost everything has been going right for me since I got to college. In my opinion, this is no coincidence.

I have started to actually practice my religion (Islam) for the first time in my  life. To the peripherally informed, this may mean that I pray 5x a day and read quran - which is kinda true...
however, the true value of believing in god is the fact that as a religious person, (at least in my opinion) I feel like I have a certain degree of security. Religious people believe in divine fate, therefore ideally they should have a certain degree of faith in their hearts because they should acknowledge that what occurs to them is not necessarily a matter of individual choices but rather because of divine altercation.

athiest/Agnostic Nt'ers, before you bash me just understand the main point that I am making.
Faith (in god or yourself), optimism and being content are three keys to success and a relatively stress-less life.
Obviously I don't have a wealth of experience so my personal experiences can only say so much, however, from what I have seen of people this seems to be true.

*This next clip is an excerpt given by a well-known Muslim Scholar about faith.
If you have the time/interest in my thread please listen, I think it's worth-while.

if you credit the recent good fortune in your life to your faith who are you going to credit when things go wrong? just wondering.

personally i think faith is necessary.. i don't subscribe to any religion but i do have some faith in a higher power.. just not really sure which. never understood people blindly accepting a religion just because that's what you've been told to believe since a youngster..

You doing well in school/life has nothing to do with Allah/ God/ Yahweh/ Buddha, what have you... Because that is to say if you are doing bad in school/life it is not your doing either which is absurd.........

As you may feel better with religion (good for you.. I'm happy you found something) I feel better without religion..... It is all about personal preference.

Taking faith in an entity or higher being  and transforming it to faith and a belief in self was probably one of the better moves I've made in my life... Gave me a new outlook, new set of values, and sense of personal responsibility, and reflection I would never have had with a God..

It's not like things haven't gone wrong in my life... about a week ago I had the worst day I have had all school year.
I finished a paper at about  7:30 AM. I have class @ 8 and all I needed to do was print my paper and go to class.

I tried my roommate's printer, no ink
I tried my dorm's study lounge printer, no ink
I tried the computer lab at a neighboring dorm building, closed
I ran to campus (15 min away), and walked into every academic building looking for a printer, no luck until I walked into one building
but when I got to the 2nd floor, the comp lab was closed.

I then went to the student life center which was completely out of my way, (I went here thinking that this was my safe bet) WRONG, the printer didn't work there either.

Mind you my class is like 4 blocks south of all the academic buildings and my dorm building is 8 blocks north of all the academic buildings (I go to NYU), so at this point in time, it was about 8:08 and I needed to be in class by 8:15 or else I would have gotten an unexcused absence which, at the time seemed worse than not turning in my paper... ( I thought my teacher would have some sympathy for me considering, ironically, the paper that I was supposed to turn in was about the concept of fate)

Anyways, when I got to class my teacher told me that I could turn the paper in late, but for a reduced grade
ohwell.gif
... this is standard policy.

Fastforward about 5 hours, I literally almost died or got seriously injured.
I was on the corner of 12th & Broadway and two taxi cabs almost collided, one was driving in the left lane, the other was pulling out of a parking spot and had they collided, based on the laws of physics, I would have been the 1st thing hit by the cars after they collided. I was so startled by the would-be accident that I jumped out of the way. A few other weird things happened on that day too, I also almost got hit by a bicyclist who was riding while pedestrians perpendicular to him had the right of way.

I was taken aback by what happened on that day. I know this is going to sound cheesy and  lame, but I was thankful to god for things not being worse.
I hope that answers ur question.

True
but there are a lot of people in college who work hard and don't do all that well. (think George costanza or Biff lowman(sp?) from Death of a Salesman)
I noticed that a lot of people who I study with are smart, capable and hard-working, but a lot of  them are pessimistic and their exam scores show that.
They constantly complain about the workload that we get and how the material is difficult and the teacher is bad etc.
They lack a certain level of comfort that I have, which I attribute 100% to my faith in a higher being. I am not putting these people down btw.
from having been a Type A personality at an earlier stage in my life, I know 1st hand the stress and insecurity that they feel and I no longer have it despite being in the most rigorous academic setting of my life.
I have literally zero stress, yet I study regularly until 2-3 AM almost every night, and wake up at about 6:00 AM every day because I have deadlines that I have to meet, turning in mid-term essays, studying for chemistry quizzes etc.

You could have 100% confidence because of god...

But he isn't the one filling in the scantron...

Have some pride in yourself, and your accomplishments.. Instead of saying it is because of god...

Exactly. All these things are going well for you because of what you are doing right. So keep doing what you're doing and then give yourself a pat on the back at the end of the day.

You get out of life what you put into it. Even I could learn from that statement.
