So yesterday I'm at an industry event, VIP and everyone who's in VIP works for the company or has something to do with the entertainment industry. So me and my girl are chilling and this dude asks what she does. She was my +1 but knows her way around the industry too, dude was like 45 years old straight trying to bag my girl right in front in me on some "business contact" steez. She gunned him down lightly. I kept my cool because a popular liquor brand sponsored the event and I didn't want to be the stereotypical angry guy. Now everyone that works for this media company got a gift bag and some prizes. Dudes were going HAM stealing extra things out of unclaimed gift bags. Making concoctions out of the free liquor, dancing with 2 cups in their hands while biting one cup. full of liquor. They totally made me look at the company differently and glad that I'm a freelancer. Heathens straight heathens.

So what's class to you? Do you feel like I feel, it's a time and a place for class? Share some examples.

Lol that woudve been something i woudve done as a teenager, not a grown *** man

Referring to the gifts and alcohol..
Not hitting on someone else's girl

But I cant teach you my swag

You can pay for school but you cant buy class

NO ONE ON THE CORNER

I would have called him out on it but in a respectful manner. Something along the lines of "with all due respect sir, that's my girlfriend you are talking to"

Class is keeping your composure and staying cool in various situations. I believe in keeping it classy but if someone is doing me dirty, they will get called out on it

Heathens straight heathens.

I don't know your situation but being in the corporate world i can say a lot of these older married people LIVE for happy hours and get togethers.

I have seen very respectable Mission Directors here push a grown woman off a chair to win musical chairs at our company xmas social. But when i asked around like "Is this normal behavior?" everyone said "I never get to do this" or "this is the first time i could drink without the wife and kids since last xmas party".

So to the younger crowd (i still consider myself young at 25) this is normal. Going out having a few drinks. But to the older crowd its basically college lol.

To answer your question....idk what class really is. I feel like its the are you real or fake argument. There are times when you can display class and there are times where you can let loose. If you are a smart cordial human and take care of your responsibilities...then i don't care what you do in your free time you have my respect.

Stealing free gifts? Classless.

Getting all the free liquor you can drink? The American way.

Whenever I see two people fighting, I yell out "WORLDSTAR!!"

I mean my girl can handle herself, if I respond insecurely it makes one look small and worried which I wasn't. But If I let him have a go while I smile in his face and watch him make a fool of himself he has to look at me in shame.

My girl  only complaint was the ******* that bumped her out of the way to get some free drinks that wasn't going anywhere. The whole time I just was thinking of that Ghostface line.

"Honey. you never had wine before?!  And if you  did, that's not how you  act at all"

Never seen so much theatrics over a cup vodka, so much neck snapping, sucking of the teeth and rapid eye blinking like Nicki Minaj videos.

"*teeth suck* Lemme git sum uh dat *teeth suck* sum uh dat uh *wiggles index finger* sum uh dat uh ...bawr-teen-duh wat you thank?"

My girl said sarcastically to the bartender loud enough for the girl to hear:: "I'll have some of that young and ratchet with cranberry", everyone who heard it got the joke except the ratchet girl herself.

all manners go out the window once alcohol is involved.

Like dude said above this is their chance to finally live a little.

Random: I'm 25yo, got invited to a happy hour with my older coworkers so i'm like cool that's wassup. Come to find out it was like 3 months out :{:{

OP, sounds they aren't really classy people or weren't taught any manners. Plus, that type of behavior starts at the top, so if they see the boss acting like a barbarian they assume it's appropriate behavior.

Whether poor or wealthy, someone who demonstrates good manner, etiquette, decorum and propriety. Someone who knows how to handle themselves properly and formally in all settings.

I know this is kinda of off topic but what do you do for a living op?? not tryna attack you or anything but you sound like you have a cool job lol

It's a corporate event with free booze... so what do you expect? Once people are intoxicated, class and manners are usually the first to go.

Personally I don't judge regardless of wealth and class or get all pissed with people who lack manners/respect. I say let em do what they do... it's all in good fun. However, if some dude tried to pick up on my girl in front of me, I whisper to my girl to excuse herself, and confront the scumbag right there and then. If he says the wrong thing, I don't care who the hell you are, a bottle upside his head or a quick jab to his nose will let them know who I am.

seems like they were having fun and you're the buzz killington of the group

if dude works in the entertainment industry, what happened is par for the course.

that old dude knew for sure that your girl was wit you. he just doesnt give a damn.

that being said, i commend you for handling it the way you did. just cause the old guy is a d-bag doesnt mean you should stoop to his level. both you and her know who shes with. at the end of the day, old dude is harmless. hes not gettin your girl. theres no reason to escalate stuff and make a scene around the people you work with, that would just be subjecting yourself to his level. if your girl can handle herself, let the old dude make a jackass out of himself. if she asks you to step in and help her out or if you think she needs some help, then you tell dude wsup and get him to back off.
