Let's talk netbooks

I need one for class since my laptop was KIA, and that's really all I need it for is for class. I wanted to get a tablet but we don't use wifi at home.

So far the only brands I've been looking at are ASUS and Lenovo. What would you recommend. http://

oh and these are the ones that really caught my eye Asus Ee PC 1215N and Lenovo ThinkPad X120

depends-- if all you're doing is basic computing tasks (which include word processing, non-intensive internet surfing, e-mail, IM, etc.) then it's probably right for you.

Yeah, I have another computer at home that I use for everything else.
This will basically be used just for notes and something to lug around.

With the Lenovo the one I've been looking at is only about 11" the smallest screen I've used has been 15. If anyone has used that small of a screen, how is it? Seems like it would bother you after a while.

i use a 13" thin & light from Intel (not consumer grade)... IMO, netbooks are useless..
either get a thin & light or a tablet

it's not so bad... my road warrior x61s is a 4:3 12.1" screen.

i personally cannot stand the computing power of netbooks though so i bought an ultraportable laptop-- which combined the best of both worlds.

try looking into samsung for netbooks as well.

I'm using a Samsung N150. Works for me. Only $250, too.

If you're just taking notes, writing papers and checking e-mail then a netbook will handle that. Went from a 15.4 on my old notebook to the 11 screen and I got used to it.
Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

been looking for one the last few days
hp, asus, or toshiba. all only have 1gb of ram, 250gb hard drive space, and priced between $250-300
looking to upgrade the ram to 2gb after purchase, but does anyone know if there is a noticeable difference between ddr2 and ddr3?

honestly I would never buy, nor recommend a netbook to anyone....and I use to sell computers.

i doubt you'll notice much of a difference on a netbook.

but yeah I'm going to get the Lenovo sometime this summer

Went down to a netbook after my laptop conked out, the smaller screen will bother you for a while but as with most anything, you'll adapt and get used to it.
