Absolutely. Growing up in a mixed household with a Black father and a Puerto Rican mother, I saw it firsthand.
I think my reaction was more knee jerk than anything, because I didn’t really look outside myself there and took personal offense as a black Hispanic man who cares almost to my detriment about this type of injustice. That’s my bad.
I agree that you can’t expect white hispanics to take offense or even care, but I think it’s my frustration with that more than anything. Being mixed, there’s plenty times when I’ve been in a room and people felt comfortable enough to say some things about black folks or Hispanic folks in front of me. Kind of blows my mind, and pisses me off when it happens, but it is what it is.
I think all hispanics should take personal offense to this type of stuff, but like you said many don’t even acknowledge their African roots, almost as if it’s a handicap.
Aight I’m rambling now, but I completely agree. My reaction was misplaced.

Whats the whole story on this? Maybe that kid has a wildly flagrant history. Sometime other students even get tired of that one kid. Inb4 Teachers should never put hands on a student. That wasn't the sentiment with that one kid who called the teacher the N word.

Kid should have left and got her mother before pushing a teacher. If your child puts hands on me they def getting smacked.
