The point of the report system is to empower members to work together to improve the entire site. It's members helping members, which is the spirit of our community. It should be about working together to remove people and content that seek to tarnish all we've built together.
To equate that with serving up fellow citizens as grist for the prison pipeline is less offensive to NikeTalk than it is to the seriousness of the prison industrial complex. It's a preposterously inappropriate metaphor.
We're doing something that I think is very reasonable here. Far too many posts are added to the site each day for our staff to read ALL of them. So, we chose to prioritize our fellow members' concerns above all others. We're constantly checking the reports system to determine what YOU consider the biggest problems on the site. If somebody out there is trolling, posting hate speech, or otherwise ruining the experience, we want to know about it immediately. Keeping the forums free of such abuses benefits us all.
Instead, we get this juvenile "stop snitching" attitude about it and this is the result. In the "draya" thread and elsewhere, regulars chose to work against the staff and oversee the destruction of their favorite thread than work with us to preserve it.
Staff members aren't adversaries. Every man and woman on the team comes from the community itself. The only difference is that they consistently went so far out of their way to help others that we entrusted them with the ability to effect immediate editorial change on the forums. They aren't the "ruling elite." They aren't nepotism hires. They're fellow NikeTalk users who love our community.
It's truly unfortunate that generic adolescent resentment of authority is costing us all so much.

Brethren just chill and let the situation breathe. That thread was like "Cheers" but at times we all did too much because we got lost in the moment of the laughs and fun.
It is what it is but lets take this time out, get our **** together and if/when the time comes, when we get our thread back , we can go hard in the paint but lets just be more responsible with some of our content. I think that's all Meth is asking for, accountability for our actions.

I came into the thread and was like "Dudes chill, we gonna get this locked" but it was too late and in Meth's opinion not enough.
And now with Meth putting forward clear guideline of what opening the thread would require. Everyone willing to hit the report button if the line is crossed. But your brilliant solution, in a thread Meth is currently monitoring to see if dudes can handle self policing themselves, is to suggest that even the dudes that would post words of cation need to be banned from the thread if reopened.
It is like you saw Gordonson and Peep mention dry snitching, didn't even stop to grab the context, and started typing.
How can you not see how stupid that looks brah
-I accepted the thread is gone. Because as I see it, you got a group of dudes down to keep it clean but don't want to report their brahs, and then you got a group of dudes who drive by the thread and could care less about the lulz. They just want the Raunch and will habitually cross the line regardless of the warnings.
And as it stands both stand responsible for it closing. And since we're handling your timeout so poorly, we have given Meth zero reasons to reconsider his move.
