Just messing around with a few Live distro's and Ubuntu is pretty solid if you ask me for basic computing tasks. If I had a Netbook, I would def useUbuntu.

I made the switch this past summer and I'm glad I did, it runs a lot smoother on my desktop than my old XP used to.

Ubuntu is cool. It's literally the McDonald's of desktop Linux distros as it's the one that will probably be palatable to the masses.

yea i just upgraded to 9.10 on my laptop. im fairly simple when it comes to my laptop so i decided to give ubuntu try a few months ago and its pretty good.free programs

uggh, no one messing with Linux anymore. Move on to Win 7 or Mac OS... only NT admins mess with Linux...

As a desktop, probably. And even that is arguable.
80% of the Internet is hosted on Linux/FreeBSD systems. These are systems that are up and running 24/7/365. It says a lot about the power, efficiency andstability of the Operating System.
