Because people are saying we wont ever recover from this. It isn't like they have basically been in the same exact situation before.
At the end of the day the Lakers are the Lakers and they will rebound. No one will give a **** about this in a year. Most people didn't even know the damn Kobe thing happened and that's the point.
You're wrong though. When Kobe did his deed, his rep was at an all time low around the league, after the a Shaq stuff came out it was worse. Players openly/and some covertly did not **** with him after that, he was already an abrasive personality before.
If you think about it nobody of any significance ever came willingly to play from 2004-2009 until Ron Artest and he was way on the back end of his career and had his own baggage. So in his prime as the best player in the world from really 4 or 5 seasons no free agents came and he was playing at an otherworldly level. LO was traded for, Pau was traded for, Bynum and Ariza were drafted most of the rest of the team that got us back to prominence were as well. So I don't know why it's so out of the realm of possibility after you have current and former players who've spoken out on this to believe that this isn't going to have any kind of affect on guys willingly wanting to come here. We've seen it before.
Sure winning and playing like a possessed animal helped Kobe recover; him maturing also helped but it damn sure didn't eliminate that stain from his record. Just look no further at it being brought up again thanks to D'Lo's shenanigans when it's supposed to be down the final stretch of a farewell tour.
It's moved down the ledger,it's not the first thing you think of when talking about Kobe, but it's still there for a lot of people. D'Lo is in a different position because at this point it's all he's known for. That's the first thing that pops up when you Google him, him being a rat.
And to reiterate nobody knows how he's going to react, Kobe was already a maniac before the Colorado incident/snitching fiasco. We have no idea what type of person D'Lo is other than a very immature one that has some serious growing up to do.
