NBA source calls Yi Jianlian's contract "very creative." Non-guaranteed vet's min deal for $1.1 mill can increase to $8 mill w/ incentives.

He's this year's Ed Davis/Brandon Bass.
nope

dont think cause he's 7ft. hes gonna bang in the paint.

theres a reason he wasnt in the nba anymore.

team didnt   need another big at all

team needed a shooter at the 3 and while he can shoot,  hes not the one
I compared him to them in the sense that he's a back up big on a low risk deal.

Deal sounds even better now.

With teams allowed to carry as many as 20 players per roster during training camp, the Lakers held a free agent minicamp on Wednesday to take a look at some of those looking to break into the NBA or return to it.
Minicamp Participants
- Jeff Ayres (Los Angeles Clippers/Arizona State)
- P.J. Hairston (Memphis Grizzlies/ North Carolina)
- Tyler Haws (Obradoiro CAB/BYU)
- Xavier Henry (Santa Cruz Warriors/Kansas)
- Pierre Jackson (Idaho Stampede/Baylor)
- Julian Jacobs (USC)
- Orlando Johnson (Guangxi Weizhuang/UC Santa Barbara)
- Nikola Jovanovic (USC)
- Mamadou Ndiaye (UC Irvine)
- Johnny O’Bryant III (Milwaukee Bucks/LSU)
- Wesley Saunders (Austin Spurs/Harvard)

Xavier.....hope he can get back to that level he was on with MDA before the foot/Achilles injuries and get signed by someone

Really liking the international flavor on this team reminiscent of the 09/10 championship squads

Moz
Luol
Yi
Calderon
Zubac
Huertas

X, Pierre, PJ Hairston & Ayres only guys I really care about on that list in that order

Russell / Calderon / Huertas
Clarkson / Lou Williams
Ingram / Deng / A. Brown
Randle / Nance
Mozgov / Yi / Black / Zubac

*Nick Young cut, traded, or glued to the bench all season.
* Don't think Ingram gets put on the bench, but I wouldn't be surprised if Deng ends up starting over him. Putting 4 young guys in the starting lineup together isn't the best idea.
*Yi starts out as Backup Center, Not sure how long that lasts
*Black won't get many minutes unless Yi stinks (which is a good chance)
*Zubac & A. Brown likely up & down with D-Fenders all season

Not Mozgov, Not Deng, Not Calderon
BUT signing a previous lottery pick for 1 year at 1.1 mil on a non guaranteed contract has you up in arms?!

I see nothing has changed lol

Why would anyone be mad about a $1.1 Vet min Deal that's non-guaranteed? On top of that it increases based on performance.

No way Deng comes off the bench. I agree with the rest of the starters, to start the season at least.
