ska be trollin on the low. :lol

This is False. It didn't prevent him from winning the MVP during the 05-06 season when he was averaging 35 ppg and the 62 in 3 quarters against the Mavs and 81 point game.Nash got his 2nd regular season MVP because was playing great that year and Phoenix was the #2 seed in the West.

What prevented him from winning regular season MVP that season is that the Lakers were the 7th seed going into the playoffs.

No player who won regular season MVP has ever won the award on a team that was a 7th or 8th seed.

The award is voted on by media and sportswriters. That's why he didn't win it that year or in other previous seasons during that time in his career 05 to 07.

2008 when he won his only regular season award the Lakers were #1 or 2 seed going into the playoffs.
Tbh, There might've been some pressure to improve the NBA's image after the rape accusation, The Jail Blazers, and the Malice at the Palace. What better way to do so than that Nash? White, clean image, nice guy face, and happened to be playin very well.
Still don't get how you can give MVP to someone who doesn't play defense. And to do it back to back years? Smh.

Unpopular opinion: Dantoni's system inflated a lot of his players stats, and I don't think Nash was an exception.

Kobe was the best in the game but you just can't have a MVP on a 7th or 8th seed team. Nash pretty much laid the blueprint for how the game is played today. MDA system helped but this is a players league. That Suns team made had like a 30 game improvement when Nash won the 1st one. The second he did it w/o Amare. It's tricky cuz Nash ain't as great as Kobe or Shaq but for those 2 years I think he deserved it.

A likely target for the Lakers.... LA guy. Loved the Lakers.. Yadda Yadda.

There's a scenario (money-wise, not realistic wise) where they could stack the team and DeMar is the 3rd best player signed in the offseason... But again, money wise, could do it... Realistically, it won't happen.

Kobe Bryant went from DeMar DeRozan’s idol to his friend
Associated PressNov 30, 2015, 9:00 PM EST

TORONTO (AP) — DeMar DeRozan was 16 when he was invited to Kobe Bryant‘s camp for the top 25 American high school shooting guards.

A friendship grew between the youngster who would become an All-Star for the Toronto Raptors and the player who would become the third-leading scorer in NBA history.

DeRozan talked at length Sunday night about Bryant, who announced on The Players’ Tribune that he’ll retire after the season, capping a 20-year NBA career.

“The knowledge that he tended to give me every time I got the chance to be around him, especially at a young age, carrying over to the league, it was definitely an honor,” DeRozan said after the Raptors’ 107-102 loss Sunday night to Phoenix. “I tried to listen as much as possible, soak in as much as I could all of the time. It’s crazy how much time flies.”

Bryant was DeRozan’s favorite player while growing up in Compton, Calif.

“I’ve tried to emulate and learn so much from him ever since I was a kid, watching every single game growing up in Los Angeles, having a chance to get with him and learn from him, from conversations even when I was in high school from playing against him, completing against him, being in big games with him,” said DeRozan, who scored 29 points in Sunday’s loss. “It’s definitely a sad, sad day, but he’s been in the game a long time.”

Bryant’s announcement came just before the Lakers’ game against the visiting Indiana Pacers. Fans at the game received a letter of thanks from the 37-year-old player in a black envelope embossed with gold.

Bryant has struggled mightily with injuries the past several years, and is shooting a career-worst 32 percent this season.

“It don’t matter. That man has five rings, 17 all-stars, MVP,” DeRozan said. “There’s nothing he hasn’t done. It’s just father time catching up with him, injuries catching up with him this past year. People will appreciate it when he’s away from the game.”

DeRozan has his favorite Kobe memory – Bryant scoring 81 points against Toronto in 2006. DeRozan, who would join the Raptors as a rookie three years later, said he felt as if he was playing a video game watching the high-scoring spectacle unfold on TV.

DeRozan is in his seventh season with Toronto. He can’t imagine playing 20 years.

“Especially playing at a high level, doing the things he was doing … people don’t understand how hard that is,” DeRozan said. “Even now, a lot of us find ourselves tired (on) back-to-backs. It’s tough. It’s really tough. To do it 20 years at a high level, you have to give that man every credit in the world.”

Derozan plays the three or you move clarkson to the bench

2 Different Scenarios:

1. Russell is Starting PG.
Clarkson is super 6th man, bounces between the 1 & 2.
DeRozan starts at the 2 bounces between the 2 & 3.

Everybody gets 30+ mpg...

Someone else starts at the 3..

That's my super scenario that money wise works, but realistically does not.

2. Russell, Clarkson & DeRozan all start.. Clarkson and DeRozan get some minutes at PG & SG respectively.

That's my likely happens scenario.

Meh that would be a redundant signing. Replacing washed Kobe with poor man's Kobe.

As much as we need a scorer it's kinda funny to think of transitioning out of green lit chucking Kobe to Derozan, without any time for fans to get a taste of pure team basketball :lol

NT Raptor fans on Twitter would rejoice and celebrate him leaving, based on their tweets about how much they hate him every night :lol

I just hope D'Angelo works out after we passed on Okafor.

Last thing we need is another combo guard. Brinks truck for Whiteside, gauge the interest of Barnes and if both turn down chill until next summer.

Not saying he's the guy we need... But I think he's the guy we end up with.

As for Whiteside, I'd still bring back Hibbert with Whiteside.. Give Whiteside the starting role.. Split the minutes generally down the middle. Let Hibbert be the guy who stays in the young guys ears, and keeps Whiteside in check.. Although most of Whiteside's Tom Foolery seems of the past.

And going double up on Centers really has no impact on being able to afford another max (yes I'd pay Hibbert good money to come back, even with Whiteside), assuming Lou Williams or Nick Young is gone.. I prefer Lou because of money and worse fit.. And if there isn't a max guy on top of Whiteside or Hibbert, then you use the rest of the money for Clarkson and guy who fits a role.. Then kick near max space or full max space depending on what JC & role player cost into 2017.

I'd rather try for Whiteside and/orHorford and move Julius to the LO role in the bench. Especially if we can get Simmons or Skal.

That ain't bad... That's another option. (I floated around Horford & Hibbert a couple of weeks ago. Because part of me believes that it'd take a lot for Whiteside to leave Miami)

Hibbert has been really good for us though.. Not Horford good, but good nonetheless. I generally just like that he has been putting up a fight and standing up for and mentoring the young folks. And doesn't talk badly about them either.

And he'd be a lot less than Horford, and wouldn't require Julius to a 6th man role, and Nance never playing at all..

But if Whiteside & Horford were possible, you gotta give it an attempt, and think that would have someone like KD go :eek

Actually Horford rather than Whiteside with Hibbert could get KD to take another look as well.

Midas whale try and get them both. Don't have anything to lose. I still don't want Hibbert back his production doesn't warrant a double digit salary anymore. What are the max deal salaries for Whiteside and Horford looking like?

Defensively he has still been really good. He gets tremendously undervalued.

$22.25 & $26.7

Would take a lot of cap magician skills to go from the $14.56 mil left in cap to $26.7mil for say a Durant. (That's after Bass declines PO & we decline Kelly's and Huertas' QO)

Would need to unload Lou Williams & Nick Young without taking salary back at all (ain't happening for either), and you would still end up about $2mil short with roster space holds.

Now if there is no Durant and those 2 guys.. That $14mil + more gets ate by Clarkson & someone else.. Then we go into 2017 with nothing in terms of max cap, even with cap going up another $20mil.

Just think Hibbert allows you to make more moves in 2016, and 2017.

If we can do them both and have 14 mil left over, you do it. And save that for next summer for Russ with the cap increase.

It doesn't get saved...

Because that $14mil is with Clarkson's $1.18mil cap hold. Not the $14 mil he's likely getting next year.

So unless you get Whiteside & Horford to take a paycut, you don't have a max deal in space in 2017. It'll end up anywhere between $30 - $32.7mil

Hopefully somebody offers the poison pill deal or something to get that number a little lower.

Yeah that's the best case scenario for us in terms of how to manage FA in the next couple of years.. It would be $5.9m year 1, $5.9m year 2, $23m year 3 if we matched.. Where as it would be about $11.something mil for the other team if we didn't match.

:rolleyes that's what I get for apologizing huh. Continuous jabs still weeks after.

k. No problem.
He's sensitive.
Nah.

I just don't fall for BS.

Wanna put someone on blast in public... then a private apology is supposed to remedy it?

Psh. :lol Maybe for someone more naive than I am. :lol I'm not so easily fooled.

I berate you in front of our friends, I'm'a wait until most of us are together again and apologize if I really feel I was out of line. I'm'a make it right the same way I screwed it up.

A private apology for a public action is so the person apologizing can feel better, feel like they said what they were supposed to. Actually fixing it is of no concern.

See, if I would have copied the initial PM in here, you would have been upset.

"Oh, it's like that now? I put what you said out there so you're going to do the same thing? K. No problem."

But if you really felt bad, me copying it and posting it would have been no problem, if that's how you really would have felt.

But there's a reason it was through PM; so no one else knew.

I'm supposed to pretend not to be aware, though. Supposed to be shleep.

Nah.
