Seems like it's all related though:
"The variant form of CJD is the human version of bovine spongiform encephalophathy, commonly known as ‘mad cow disease.’ Human get the variant version of CJD when eating the meat of animals infected with BSE."
I don't know why but this scares the crap out of me. Just thinking that you can eat bad meat and it will cause you to have dementia and eventually slip into a coma and die is crazy.
