Beckett clearly deserved it; I mean, look, he only lost by 33 votes.

Somebody lied to y'all.

I don't think some of you realize this is a regular season award

Beckett clearly was the best pitcher in the game when it mattered most, but CC had an incredible year from April to October

The NL award gets announced tomorrow.

no way Jake Peavy doesn't win.

I'm sure Beckett isn't TOO worried about it, he has his world series championship to ease the pain. Also, like allen3xis said, it's a regularseason award and C.C and Beckett had basically equal numbers down the board besides the innings pitched which Sabathia blew Beckett away in. On a side note,Sabathia is fat though, he's gotta calm down. Maybe start his offseason "work out" program a little earlier this year.

^ Beckett's probably pissed. He's a cocky s.o.b., rightfully so, though.

If Peavy doesn't win it, I'd be pissed... and I'm not even a Padres fan by any stretch of the imagination. Webb was the 2nd best pitcher inthe NL but Peavy has such an advantage over Webb in ERA, WHIP, and K's. Should be Peavy's award for sure.

Props to him. Helluva pitcher.

P.S. I see you Lackey, with an ERA lower than both Beckett and Sabathia.

playoff performance doesnt count in the AL cy young.
He pitched 40 1/3 more innings.
Sabathia was clearly a beast this year.
check out the stats.

congrats to c.c.

Yea I went to school with him and knew he could hit the ball. But i wanted to know since hes a pitcher and most of the practice involves pitching if heheld on to the batting ability he had back when we went to school together. And from what I read he seems to do good as a batter when he gets a chance.

4 Extra starts essentially made up for the longer innings plus he had 3 more CG's, that's basically where it was lost for Beckett.
This would've been closer in voting had Beckett started as many games as CC, IMO.

good...the dude deserved it...now, if the postseason mattered...
thats a different story

No mention for Dan Haren? He had this on lock until the All Star break... CC deserved it though for sure

whens cliff lee gonna be able to pick his award up this year. 2 in a row for indians pitchers
