I'm about to cop a PS3 but I'm not sure how big of a factor the harddrive size plays into it? Does it really matter if I get the 40 Gig as compared tothe 60 or 80? what does this effect? Just the memory I'm assuming

I don't think it really has an effect unless you want to store music/movies and pics.

Harddrive is moderately a factor. Games, music, and other types of files going to eat your Harddrive, but you willalways have the option to upgrade it to a bigger harddrive.

Only real big difference between the 40, 60, and 80 gigs are backwards compatibility.

Like Daytona said, it's only important if you plan on putting a lot of movies on it. It only effects the amount of storage you have.

Most games will require an install so that's going to take up space. Also, if you plan on getting loads of demos from the Playstation Store then you mightwant to consider getting the 80 gig. (Not quite sure if they still make the 60 gb don't think so) Also, if you plan on playing your old Playstation 2 gamesthen be aware that the 40 gb does not have backwards compatibility. I have a Playstation 3 40gb model and I occasionally have to delete demos in order to makespace for installs/other demos.

Either way, it's an awesome system with some truly fantastic games. I recommend Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA IV, InFamous, Street Fighter IV and Killzone 2.

Also, Costco has a good deal on an extra controller and HDMI cables if you're interested.

Hope that helps.

eh....

we have a server in the crib...so wouldn't matter if we had a PS3 1 gig...

I'd suggest you set up a server in the crib..

Are the 60 gb the only ones that are backwards compatible and able to play ps2 games??

yes. but they dont make them anymore

60gbs play PS2 games 100%
80gbs play PS2 games 70%-80% (Don't know about the newer 80gbs but the Motorstorm pack 80gb. Also some PS2 gameswould play real slow and lag alot)
