Plans for 'luxury floating island' revealed

An Austrian company has unveiled its plans for a luxury floating island that can be re-positioned according to its occupants’ wishes.

Work on a prototype of the project, called ORSOS Islands, has already begun. According to Gizmag, an online technology and science magazine, the island should be open to the public by the end of 2013.

The island is set to be more than 20-metres wide (66-ft) and 37 metres long (121-ft), with room for up to 12 residents.

On its website the floating island is described as “more comfortable than just about any luxury yacht
