yes we have artists that can play both sides of the fence and do it well, and some of them stick to their respective teams....

but hmmmm....it seems as though as the Hooks & Ad lib team is winning by default in todays world...

who do you side with?!? something that you'll just party to and memorize the hook in 30 seconds, have no idea what they said in the verse, and wonder whyyour repeating an obnoxious sound all day long in your dialect......or would you like to be taken outside of your element to open your mind and find somethingnew everytime you listen to the song?!?

Hella Bias. besides ad libs, everything should go with the song. But good lyrics to me aren't good lyrics to you. But I will say I would prefer to listento Gucci Mane's "half a break qtr brick whole pound AY"(idk the name of the song) Than 95% of Joe Buddens discography....

But OP to be honest with you, I don't feel as though I have to pick between the two. Puff and Big/Skateboard and Clipse are among many who showed you thatyou can have your lyric&concept/hook&ad lib cake and eat it too. Good adlibs on a lyrical song just adds to the overall production and detail (see"What's Beef?").

Never one or the other. But appreciate both.

to me its not about neither of those two. its about flow.

if u can do any of those two with good flow. then that makes good music.

Lyrics & concepts, they make better music imo but I like to have fun at parties so I don't knock the good songs that rely on hooks & ad libs.
